HI,

This summer I'm planning to go and work in Ibiza from the start of June to sept. None of my friends can come because of work/boyfriends/kids and other commitments.....but this still hasnt put me off! i'm still going...i'm just a bit nervous because im female and on my own.

Does anyone have any tips? Any other females that have done the same?

So far my plan is to save up an emergency fund (just encase). Then book a hostel for a few my first few nights, when i'm there I can just ask any workers if they know of any free beds/jobs.

Any other tips for a female going out there on there lonsum?

Thanks

Hi! I'm also going out on my own, scary!! First time I've went for the full season! Sounds like you have a good plan, but might be a good idea to sort out accommodation before you head over - there's an ibiza workers group on Facebook that I've found really useful! Job wise, I plan to just ask everyone once I'm over, as well as sending out loads of emails just now. Some places are advertising on that facebook group as well :) My name's Heather Dowell if you want to add me :) x

So long as you have some funds to fall back on and are confident enough to look for work/friend then you shouldnt have any problems. Me and a friend are staying in the Es Vedra apartments. Flying out of Gatwick April 28th so we are in it for the long hall! Feel free to add me on fb William Chicharito Renville if you're after some friendly faces :)

Hey,

I'm also going out on my own for the season (well, planning to book it asap).. I find the thought of travelling by myself and having no help over on the island a bit daunting, so I'm doing it through one of those websites that set you up with a group of people that you fly over with and share accommodation with, sort your accommodation for a month and give you a rep to help you with things like nie numbers and finding a job and new place to live after the months up. Plus they organise a load of parties and stuff while you're there.

The website I found the cheapest is one called SunKiss Travel. http://www.sunkisstravel.net/

Not sure if doing it this way is everyones cup of tea, but the thought of having to go over and having no help or group support from people who will be in the same boat as me scares me a little

Speaking of which, any Irish heading over mid June? :D

I went other as a girl on my own last year!

Well I initially stayed with a rep Id met twice before who sold me club tickets the year before...so I kind of knew someone, but not very well. What I did was stay with him for a few days while I found somewhere else.

The Ship Inn in the square at the top of the West End is really good for finding jobs & accommodation. The Space shop opposite the Ship Inn also have a lot of club ticket sellers working out of their, so if you fancy trying your hand at that its worth popping into there.

If you fancy PR work then pop into any and everybar in the west end. Most will be willing to give you a trial (ask if you get paid for the trial first because some dont!) As a general rule, the ones on the main strip pay a basic of about 20 euros a night, the ones on the side streets off pay commission (1-3euros per person your PR in on a 10euro drinks deal). Amsterdam bar employ loads of PRs so thats always a good bet to try!

If you're looking for bar work then you need apply for an NIE number. It's worth doing this as soon as you get there, or before through the spanish consulate, as this will allow you to apply for the better jobs on a basic wage. I survived the full season without one though an still made good money on commission jobs.

Some of the bigger workers complexes like Es Vedra & Es Pon (Ket Castle) are getting pretty full pre booked. Theres plenty of other places to live though so dont feel pretty pressurised into paying out deposits before you go and prebooking. Theres a constant roundabout of people moving in an out of apartments and odds on you will probably live in 3 apartments or more during your time in Ibiza! Not pre booking also means you can meet the people you will live with before you pay mney over. I think this is really important because you want to ask certain questions to make sure they are your type of people.
