My partner and i were going to Ibiza Aug 03 - 13, He has called it a day but i am still going. Should a 47 year old woman go it alone in Ibiza. I'm still young at heart

It doesnt matter if you are young at heart, middle aged at heart or even old at heart. There is something for everyone here. What resort are you going to?

pity i could not go with you.i have been going alone now for over 3 years.its great really.you get a know a lot of people.who will just talk to you out the blue.and ask you to join in.either round pool or drinks at night.its not the same as being with someone.but at least you will have the bathroom to yourself.plus you can do what ever you wish.

where are you staying when you go

+1

just don't be too shy about approaching people- i tend to be a bit reserved and have to force myself to introduce, esp. with groups...it's worth it, you'll meet some great people;)

I can see it from your perspective with me being 45, I did it at when i was39 when i was single following a marriage breakdown and found it okay, you can either be a sociable or keep yourself to yourself, it really depends on what you want out of your holiday. I think it can be harder to fit in the older you are especially if your male and i think you being a woman might find it easier, I spent most of my time milling around the pool and visiting various places, i think the hardest part is the night time when you tend to feel alone

I knew a woman similar age to me who did it although she did it of her own fruition rather than as a result of a holiday already booked with a previous partner but she loved it.

id say do it., why waste the holiday

ibiza's appeal is to all age groups - the statistical analysis of our visitors by age is hardly any different to other mediterranean resorts - so there'll be plenty of other old fogies about. people on holiday are much more open/receptive to conversations with others so i don't think there would be much difficulty making new friends.

it depends what you want i suppose. i'm off on my todd to the basque country next month and i'd not even thought about being alone - it just hadn't crossed my mind.

Someone the 28th july?

I will go on my own the 28th july! I have a friend on the Island but he´s working so I´m going to be on my own in the daytimes and problably some nights too... It´s so easy finding new friends on the Island.
It´s going to be niiiice! 8)

If someone is in the same possision as me, just tell me!

Thanx for your replies they have helped me decide to just go for it. Im staying in San An and will just keep in mind that you are never alone wherever you are and there is always someone worse off than you. By the way in my case as a 47 year old i could knock 7 years off and no one could tell!!
Cheers mates x

every week we have just 10 days to make you look ten years younger. i love that - even in ibiza a week has just 7 days.

btw I'll ask my mother in law if she knows any good bingo nights on while you're here?

Atleast by going alone you can choose/decide what you want to do or where to go without falling out with a partner or friends who might not be up for doing the same thing. I've just come back from Ibiza & i was alone but feel now as if i've got a whole new lot of friends locals & tourist's alike. You go for it girl ;)& tell us all on Spotlight about your Ibiza experience when you get back as i know you won't like myself be disappointed, infact i want to return but it won't be for awhileas my next holiday in October will be in Crete.

Regards

Dave
