Global Gathering

Yay we're going, been before, it's a good festival, well organised, not to hard to get to from London Town. Line-up this year is excellent :D

advise is get there early, there are only two road leading into the site, and with 35 thousand people in motors it's mayhem.

Lats year we found a back road which the taxi man knew, however, if your comiming straight from London you could end up spending hours in traffic, which we did a few years ago, plus it was hot which made it worse.

Still worth every penny though :D

:D

we will have to sort out transport etc....may stay nearby the night before ;) ;) ;)
when we came home from homelands all was going so well...buses every minute to train station...then caos at station.........1 train per hour......thanks british rail  well thought out.... :x so definitely wont make the same mistake again...

We went on a coach a couple of years ago and literally had the worse coach driver on the worse coach in the history of the world

It took us about 6 hours to get there, in the end me and Tom were so funked off we walked the last 3 or 4 miles 8O and if that wasn't bad enough the coach driver got lost on the way back to the site and left us sitting in the field for til about 10am Sunday morning

Think this year we're going to go on train and get shuttle bus to site, at least you can get there when you want to then without relying on retarded coach drivers

We actually walked back from Homelands site to the station, you can't beat a nice 3 mile walk when you're funked at 7am in the morning 8O  We got on the first train to London so it wasn't too bad but if we'd missed that one we'd have been waiting an hour like you said

Babs' festival tip to ensure your journey home is as smooth as possible is that just before they shut the bars at 4am go and buy as many of those little bottles of wine that they sell that you can fit into your pockets and then as soon as you leave you can get back on the wine and it makes the journey home that much easier  ;)

a very well thought out plan........ year of practice i assume ;) ;)

I went to Global Gathering two years ago, we had a cottage in Stratford for the weekend which was great, but we had a nightmare getting back from the site and ended up blagging a lift in the back of a white van with the scariest, most f*cked up chavs you could ever have the misfortune to meet, all crushing and snorting and jabbering like lunatics. They drove off, went straight into a field, then drove round in a circle for about ten minutes before attempting to find the road again. I properly thought I was going to die in that van. 8O

This looks Bleeping good!! 8) 8O Not sure what to do.......

Creamfields or Gods???? My mate is adament that Creamfields is the best festival (he's not done Godskitchen) So which is better. GG is nearer that's for sure...

Did someone put a post up about a log cabin or something that they stayed in close to the GG site?? i am sure i read it somewhere.

if so, i reckon that would be a quality idea - no hassle with traffic getting in and no journey from hell on the way home

I've done both, personally I would say Global just edges it. For one, Liverpool is a bloody long way and with the exception of Deep Dish @ Creamfields this year, everyone else as far as I can see is @ Global. There are also a lot of scallies and fake Burberry caps @ Creamfields  Having said that it is good but unless there is someone out of the world there I probably wouldn't make the trek. The good thing about Creamfields tho is that it's Bank Holiday wkend which means an extra day to recover  ;)
