Glastonbury 2008

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone on here had been to Glastonbury since the new registration policy has come into place. I registered me and the BF for it last week - just because I thought it would be fun if we ever got to go but was more interested in going V BUT then I read at the weekend that Kings of Leon are going to be headlining (dying to see these guys live) and The Verve on the Sunday night to close it all so im now insanely desperate to get tickets when they go on sale.

Just wondering how lucky I will be to getting tickets?
And how much they are for the weekend camping?

Tickets are all inclusive and camping is on site - unlike some festivals which can be quite regimented.

They are very difficult to get hold of so good luck.

Don't bother with V...I'm sure it's good but (weather permitting) Glasto is sooo much better because the atmosphere is very unique and there's stuff going on around every corner.
The music is important too but it's impossible to plan your whereabouts because the main stage isn't always the best option.

(The park stage is already looking great tho - CSS and Hot Chip etc)

I'm a bit worried about the Tarquin element now though since the registration thing came in. :)lol:)

CSS & Hot Chip are confirmed?!!!! I bluddy love them. Saw CSS at Reading last year, they were awesome.

As soon as I heard the Kings of Leon was there it sold it to me but like my BF keeps saying dont get your hopes up because then you will be really upset if you cant get tickets.

Im planning on going V unless Glasto comes up obviously.

glasto is the best fest in the uk.. nothing else comes close - its a total experience :):) there really is so so much to see, do, and explore:D good bands playing are just the bonus!
i applied to trade in the healing fields this year, but crickey really difficult to get in, still dont know yet!? fingers crossed

V is sh1t!! honestly dont even bother - it is not like a festival at all - i went once and never again.

i mean it even has tents where people can go and blow dry & straighten their hair and do their nail ffs!!!!! lol as if!!! at a festival! crickey it beggars belief that anyone would actually do that!!

I have been V twice and personally do really enjoy it  so I was planning on going this year, but as I said out of the two I would prefer Glastonbury just so I get to see the Kings of Leon.

Im already going Reading this year and heard Hard Fi are in the line up, already seen them and not too impressed with their new stuff so thats a bit disappointing but that could just be a rumour after all. And its ages away yet.

I just hope I can get some. Fingers crossed. My BF said we should both take the day off work just to get some but im not sure if thats a bit drastic or not :lol:

I heard about them hair styling things. My friend went to Hifi or whatever its called? The house music type one they do and she said then about seeing these stalls that allow you to do your hair and they were meant to be at V 2 years ago (so the women said who run them) but ive never seen them at V.............

That could be quite nice though, instead of the old dry shampoo proper straightened clean hair!

V is ok depending on what you want. If you are expecting the far out hippy crowd then V is not for you. Glastonbury is the big one but as said it is very difficult to get your hands on tickets. I am not into that muddy unwashed look so I have always swerved it. V is the usual Essex boy and girl crowd but not saying there is anything wrong with it.
V is 20 mins from home for me and a clean pair of pants away just incase! Last year was back at my mates bar by 11.30pm to finish off the weekend with an easy unwind drink out of a proper pint glass rather than a wobbly cup!
The line up at V is always pretty good and something for everyone the same with Glasto but that tends to be more diverse but would be due to the size. Last year Norman Jay played in the Breezer tent which was rocking all day and X-press 2 the year before again top draw. This year the rumours are Muse, Artic Monkeys or Coldplay headlining but take that with a pinch of a salt.
You can't really compare the 2 as Glastonbury is just so big and famous and V well is convenient if you want a local weekend booze up in the sun (weather permitting!). If you get the chance though 110% go to Glastonbury. It is supposed to be amazing and a very heavy weekend but go for it.
V tickets are on sale March 7th.

Exactly. The single best weekend of the calender year by a country mile.

Even with Tarquin, Rupert, Sebastien there!

I can't wait! PLUS It gives me an excuse to buy more camping gear!

ya mite need to
normally tickets go on sale and within 45mins they are all gone!!
i havent been able to get tickets for the last 3 fests now
i sit on the pc with loads of windows open and on the phone with constant redial and refresh - and no no avail - it does my head in every year!
good luck with getting tickets
and if ya dont get em then enjoy V :D

the festival on the isle of sky is meant to be really good
and t in the park near glasgow is quite a good crack

check out this fest too
Roskilde

my mates went last year and they said it was awesome:D

Two others (now we are on the Festival buzz!) are Rockness and Bestival.
Never been to either but heard both are a good knees up.

Thats the same for me, V is so close to me I dont see the point in not going. As someone once said to me "the point of going festivals is to go away from home" Whatever to that but yeah V is so convenient and the last 2 years have been great. I mean last year had The Killers who are one of my all time favourite bands so that was a treat for me.

I love the whole getting dirty camping bit of it - I never thought I would as ive always been seen as the girl who takes ages to get ready and loves her hair straighteners too much but once I was there I bluddy loved every second of it and all your buddies are there too to enjoy it. A guy I work with wants to come just because he wants to try something different and he said nobody will think he will enjoy it - I said again you will enjoy it, after all its what you make it.

Is Muse, Arctics & Coldplay rumoured for V then?

I have the 7th pencilled in already for V tickets 8)

Yes and apparently Kaiser Chiefs and Hard Fi! Line up is due to be announced very soon.

JAY - Z??

A man who just says words that rhyme in a row, headlining at Glasters? Never heard anything do daft (ok recent premier league antics excepted).

Ground breaking bla bla bla.

Most people there will be scratching their heads wondering what the hell he is doing.

Or am I not down with it anymore? Very possible. I still can not believe Morrissey is not headlining, but there you go!

V is 30mins away from me, every year around 20 of my mates go there, it's just so convienient and such a good weekend that I don't really care about the lineups/coolness of it!

I mean, if 20 of your mates camped in a field for the weekend with lots of alcohol and other goodies you'd have a good time wouldnt you? We just pay £120 for the priviledge at V

Im not bothered about Jay Z - hes not really who I would want to see at a festival to be honest. Like I said im all for the Kings of Leon and whoever else may be there. And the atmosphere of course, and just being new to Glastonbury

I gotta stop talking about it now as im more then likely not going to get tickets

Morrissey headlined at V in 2006

Im the same, its the talk of the summer where I am, everyone managing to get their tickets, all arranging to go together, all arranging to pitch tents together, its great!

We had the same feeling at Reading, there was so many of us all in one campsite and the weather was so nice we chose to not watch anything one afternoon and just lay in the sun together talking nonsense 8)

T In The Park for me, day after i'm back from Ibiza as well :D I'll be rough on the Monday for sure. By the looks of it REM could be headlining.
