Yep - summed it up better than I could yesterday.
Glasto hasn't lost it at all. As a 90s veteran I think it's moved with the times...yeah, could do with more bona fide crusties and less of the middle classes but that's more than been made up for in recent years with the addition of creative collectives like Block 9.
The Downlow is officially my fave dancing spot in the world - consistently delivering top notch music and a home-from-home atmos for the past three years.
Feeling a tad corpse like today (and busy...moan, groan) but staying afloat with regular reminders of the odd tranny anecdote. Hysterical.
Stevie Wonder was magic, Muse rocked it and I had the pleasure of a short but very sweet intimate dalliance with Scissor Sister's own Mr Shears. Am now suffering with teenage crush of ridiculous proportions.
Best Glasto ever? Dunno - they've all been as good as each other for very different reasons.
Sod the boutique festivals argument. I'm going to Out of the Ordinary for my crusty fix later in the year but it won't be a patch on this. Secret Garden last year was w@nk in comparison. Far too many posh people quaffing champagne. Ugh.
Glasto IS the best festival in the world. Nothing else has ever come close for me. Relaxing by the Downlow on a Sunday afternoon with trannies running around and Felix Dickinson providing the music proves this point.
It's underground, commercial, spiritual, chavvy, crusty, niche, up it's own ar$e, self deprecating and loads more, all wrapped up in the same package.
Everyone can find their own niche here and it merely puts up a mirror to the haters. What's not to like ffs?
