Girly Costume Dilemma

I've bought a pair of these short-things that are quite in fashion at the moment. They're light blue pinstriped, not quite hotpants, a bit longer if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I'm considering wearing them for SW4 tomorrow, but I don't think it's hot enough (and I'm not tanned enough!) to wear them bare legged. What do you girlies think about wearing black tights underneath them? I've seen a few girls wearing them and I think it looks alright. Not sure if I should ditch the idea for a pair of jeans though
