Getting to Ibiza

I will be staying near Alicante for a week or so early September and thought about a day trip to Ibiza - yes I know I'm nuts!

However the prices are horrendous even as a foot passenger from Denia / Ibiza but I really wanted to see Ibiza town arriving by sea.

Anyone know a bargain site for ferry tickets other than the usual which google returns?

i just picked 7/9 as a random date on www.balearia.com and found €22 each way, leave denia at 09.00 arrive ibz 12.30, leave ibz at 20.00 arrive denia at 23.30. plenty of parking around the port in denia.

i'd have a day round alicante too, it's a really nice place

Many thanks Stephen, I guess the oferta butaca means I don't have to book "accommodation", even a seat. When I get everything else sorted, I will give it a go as the books I have been reading recently say I must arrive at Ibiza by ship once in my life and after 40+ visits it's about time.
It should be one hell of an 18 hour day trip for a long lunch :)

Let us know how you get on Tony, you don't seem to post very often these days. Hope your love affair with the island is not faltering?

Not quite yet - just booked for a week in October, a fetish of mine is to enjoy my birthday in Ibiza just after midnight and then get home to enjoy it all over again with friends and family. Managed it a few times now but with the 64th this year, not sure how many opportunities remain, especially after losing my job on 24th July.

Use the narrow gauge railway to get to Denia its a nice ride

Is that the same line that one can also board in Benidorm?
Only asking as i remember going on such a narrow gauge line back in the early 80's from Benidorm - Alicante for which i took the late night transmed ferry to Ibiza. At the time the ferry was disgusting with blocked toilets and dirty seats etc but the atmosphere created by the young International travellers made the crossing worth while. And ofcourse not forgetting that back then there was no better way of getting to Ibiza for arriving around 8am at the then Old Harbor:)

Cheers

yes, it follows the coast to Dena. Get the Dena to San Antonio if you can:
