GCSEs

sorry to sound cynical.

but i think exams have been dumbed down.

more people who "pass" makes the govt look like its achieving it goals on the education front.

kids are being cheated.

Well my little Bro has just got his GCSE results and they were better than he expected. I'm so proud of him coz he did work really hard for his exams, he's not one of these people who it comes naturally to, he did have to work for them.

Also.... my mum took two GCSE's too! She got two C's in Music and RE. Bless her, Im so proud :D She must have been the oldest GCSE sitter in the country ;)

I'm so chuffed with both of them, Im taking them out for a meal tonight to celebrate :D

in finland there was an opposite phenomenon going on when i did my final exams. the exam comittee were all teachers and as they wanted to have more hours in the curriculum, they gave everyone bad notes to make it look like the current amount of education is not enough.

i was told so by our finnish teachers after they had 3 times given me an A and it always came back as a B from the committee. still pisses me off

Yep, I'm also a genius who was stiffed by an education authority conspiracy.

need to have something which is a fair assessment.

theres TOO much choice thesedays.

i think you need some choice, but also need a core of certain subjects to give people a good grounding to build on. (including 1 foreign language IMO).

you know what most kids are like, they'll wimp out and do whats the easiest out there.

id rather be undermarked, and have an incentive to do better, than think ive done great, only to be found wanting at some later stage.

for the record, ive never revised for anything in my life.
