fuse in Brussels

Is fuse a club? I've been to Brussels and TBH it's not that impressive. We went to one club; no idea what it was called, but it was tiny. Atmosphere was okay but not in a mandy way.

Brussels is such a small place that I think we spent only one whole day there and the other days got trains to Ghent, Bruges and Antwerp.

Belgium's an okay country (nice architecture and beer), but not one I'd hurry back to, at least not until the Belgian hottie I know becomes unattached.

I've also been to Brussels and wasn't fussed but Fuse seems to turn up a lot if you type into google top techno clubs in europe.. usually in the top ten!

there was some really good belgian techno in the early 90s (any other fans on here?)

R&S records > an essential starting point for anyone getting into techno

91 was an interesting time because my own starting point in house was italian/Northern pianos about a year or so previously and this sound was altogether harder and darker. Around the same time, breakbeat/hardcore really took off and I think the belgian stuff gradually got forgotten and later mutated into the nonsense that was gabba.

Not been to Belgium and I strongly doubt much of that scene survived but have fond memories of the heritage

The fuse club seems to pop up a lot people like Jeff Mills recently played there.... also fancy that Rex club in Paris..?

I went to Fuse for New Year 2004, Claude Young was the headliner. Obviously that was a while ago but a great club, and enthusiastic crowd. New Year may differ to other nights also.

The Belgian's do love their techno, the I Love Techno festival in Ghent in October is well worth a strike mission via Eurostar. Free trains from Brussels to Ghent with your ticket, which is very reasonably priced. The organisation alone puts British efforts to shame and its not a rip-off.

R&S were a must listen to label back in the nineties, they resurfaced last year and apparently have picked up where they left off in terms of quality output. Music Man records are consistently good, recommended.

have neglected my techno a bit recently - have been checking juju & jordash and new world aquarium and one or two other bits I found on clone, but I really need to immerse myself more

went on the little detroit forum the other day and I found this thread about these spanish guys who seem to have based their whole image on Underground Resistance :D

would really like to know where they are based!

Not because I'm Belgian, but Fuse is a great and cool club!!! I went to a lot of other clubs in germany, Amsterdam and offcourse Ibiza. But Fuse can compete with the big clubs.
It has 2 rooms: the main room and the smaller "Motion" room
Very nice and friendly security (in- and outside)
But the line ups are all good. Fuse is really a techno club.
Dave Clarke was resident and there were a lot of good guestdj's: jeff mills, ricardo villallobos, richie hawtin, Laurent Garnier, (played in december and is coming back in march or something), luciano, sven vath, marcel dettman, ben klock, raresh... they all played there more than once.
In the next coming months there is a cadenza labelnight, moon harbour (tanzmann, luna city express), ostgut ton, and djs like magda, steve bug, butch, etc.

Fuse resident are pierre (lessizmore labelowner), deg (plays sometimes all night long sessions in the second room which are great) and peter van hoessen.

check the website: http://www.fuse.be

If you are in brussels and want go out, Fuse is the best option

Interesting fellas, good luck to them!

I always check out Little Detroit for a techno fix, also Bleep43 who do a great podcast and www.mnmlssg.blogspot.com. Currently loving Ancient Methods, Surgeon (again!) and Inigo Kennedy.
