Fuel prices

Yawn.

1 L of gas in my local station is 1.612 Euro at the moment.

And I live in one of the greater oil producing countries and the second largest oil exporting country in the world.

How do you think that feels like.

I was referring more to the proposed blockade.

We do pay more than 1€ for a l of gas, altho in some regions of Spain is a bit cheaper, don't ask me why

Six months ago I only needed 4€ to fill up my tank now it's 5 or 5,5€ :?

It sounds like driving will be a lux soon

It's not the governments fault though. Fuel tax has remained fairly constant for the last Ten years. From the BBC site

"While UK petrol prices have virtually doubled in the past 10 years, the level of fuel duty has remained fairly constant, even falling as a proportion of the overall cost.

This appears to support one of the government’s main arguments during the 2000 fuel protests, that oil costs rather than tax were responsible for price rises."

If they lowered tax on fuel they'd have to increase it elsewhere :?

Here's your solution:

That's made me laugh a lot

Last week i was driving a beast with an 80 litre fuel tank...that did 15 miles per gallon, and i drove 500 miles in Three days....cost £70 to fill it up every time i needed fuel

I did some calculations.

Petrol here costs about 0.50 Euros per liter but most people us A92 gasoline which is not Euro05 compliant. A98, equivalent to what you guys use in Europe, is 0.53 Euros per liter.

That works out to about the same as in the US pre-Katrina, but less than in Europe where you're taxed to death.

Being a major oil producer, Russia can tax the oil companies, so the excises on refined products (like petrol) aren't quite so insane.

I forgot to say that I'm talking about my scooter, it's a 50cc and it's injection, so really low consumption ;)
