Friendly Canadian Solo in Ibiza June 27 to July 5

I survived an 8 hour transatlantic flight…4 hour layover in Madrid…9 months of winter (Ok…I’m exaggerating a bit…5 months)….but most importantly, a year of withdrawal from Ibiza.

Friendly Canadian (from Toronto)…back in Playa d’en Bossa for a third year and 9 days from June 27 to July 5. Some club and boat party tickets already bought…but really looking for fun people to cross paths with…and leverage the 8 hour time change that tells my body that 5am Ibiza time is only 10pm Toronto time!!!

Oh boy 9 months of winter tell me about it .....freezin tired ...if u there in august we will rock the house ....Mtl over here ....

How did you find out about Ibiza? I spoke to many Canadians earlier in the year and they haven't heard of it. . .

While I was walking on the street, a black van with tinted windows pulled up, the side door slid open, and the guys inside handed me a pamphlet.

...but probably depends on where you go in Canada. Vancouver and Toronto where you have more of an EDM scene is more likely to know...but on the Prairies or Atlantic where rock and country are mainstays, it's more hit and miss. I hadn't really heard of it either until I moved to Toronto.

Europe in general probably doesn't hit the radar screen of Canadians for vacation as much as Mexico, Dom Rep, and other places in the Caribbean - just easier to get to and better exchange rate too (CDN $ is about 70% of a Euro).

You're right. We don't know about it, unless you're in the rave scene or are knowledgeable about worldly things a lot and I'm from just outside Toronto. Ibiza isn't advertised by Canadian tour companies, mostly the Caribbean and more generally popular tourist European spots like France, the UK, or Greek Islands are. No one even knows about any of the Balearic islands. I tell ppl about Ibiza all the time at work, and ppl don't know. More young ppl know now because of that Posner "I took a pill in ibiza" track, but the older folk are like wha?

On my past two trips, I didn't meet any Canadians, closest I got were folks from New York. I'm fine with it though, nice to be different from everyone else and be surrounded by folks who not from you are so you feel truly on vacay.

Went 2 caribbean Punta Cana this february Barcelo and Hard Rock Hotel.... looked like Canadian retirement house 65&up ....airtransat wheelchairs & oxygen masks on the beach , IGA grocery plastic bags hangin on the palm trees and palapa chairs ...conversations about food too salty, weather too windy, grandchildren too many and growing....quebecoise complaining too much engleeesh .....NEVER NEVER AGAIN ....Ushuaia, Pacha, Amnesia, Hi Ibiza - Space is on every DJ touring list how could any Canuck miss that ...all DJ's & great music in one place...Nowhere in the world !!!.........Thank You Eivissa.

LOL, these clubs you've mentioned would only apply to the raving crowd in Canada and even then it's hit or miss. There's many prominent DJs in the local scene in Toronto who have never been there and get all weird and snooty if you mention Ibiza, claiming it to be all VIP or just a big cash grab. It is expensive to go to Ibiza for sure, but there's plenty of shortcuts around spending you can take and they seem to forget that raves basically came from Ibiza and it contains all these historical clubs of significance and that are still relevent today...I think like 3 clubs from Ibiza made the top 10 in DJ Mag for best clubs in the world.

I couldn't care any less about these festivals that show up. To me, Ibiza holds too much importance in the scene and dictates who stays and who goes.

This scene started with Ibiza and will end with it too.

You'd pay high cover for little to no production value and marginal sound instead of something like Ushauia? Id at least want some more bang for my buck

Not for $60 i'd avoid both. I was referring if I had a choice between a cheap sweatpit £20 basement/warehouse rave or Ushuaia i'd go for the basement everyday. I go for the music not production. . .

Although I disagree with club prices if I went to Space, Amnesia, dc10 etc it would feel like a clubbing night out for me instead of a concert feel, having been to most of the 'superclubs' I have hardly ever notice the dancers on show. . And im too busy dancing to take in the lazers a great deal . . .a few strobe lights, plenty of darkness and a nice funktion 1 soundsystem would do nicely and thats the deal breaker for me - a nice crystal clear soundsystem with the music I like playing. Ushuaia is more like an outdoor concert feel for me, which is totally the opposite what I go clubbing for. Although I can see why people like it, for me once was enough.

I should not have worked a full day before making the trek over. After 36 hours of no sleep, a good 10 hours of sleep, I'm good to go!
