Darin McFayden aka FreQ Nasty frequently refuses to stick to the rules of his chosen genre of breakbeat, leading to innovative yet very pleasant surprises as should be the case with the "Video Nasty Experience".
The project will debut on 2nd April at 'FabricLive' at Fabric in London. The Video Nasty experience combines FreQ behind the decks, live MC's, and a multi-screen VJ show featuring animation from talented artists.
"There's a series of animation sequences that are like little short films. Then around that, each tune I'm using throughout the set has a different theme. Most of them are to do with anti-globalisation, the speeding up of technology, modern life, on that kind of tip. Some of it's quite political and some of it isn't, just f***ing cool graphics and crazy text stuff", says Darin.
For this unique show FreQ teamed up with motion capture specialist The Brothers Mogg, animation guys from Weta FX, and Cindy Lee - who won a Palme D'or in Cannes last year - as well as other graphical artists from all over the world.
To give you tha nasty breaks update: Make sure you check out FreQ's last album, 'Bring me the head of FreQ Nasty' featuring killer tracks such as 'Mad Situation' (featuring Junior Delgado), the more sleazy but funky 'Clit Licka', as well as music featuring techno, ragga and hip hop influences.
