The scene was set.
After a few weeks of chatting on here, it was established that both legendary Ibiza spotlight forum contributor Richard Martin and myself would be in Ibiza at the same time this summer.
A challenge was made, a challenge only to be accepted by men who had never really outgrown their teenage gaming years... An online FIFA battle.
The prize?
A strawberry daiquiri at Cafe Mambo.
In honour of the Spanish island, both men plumped for Spanish sides.
Richard the Los Merengues, Jake was simply Mes Que Un Club. Cue El Clasico!
A first leg ended in a tense 1-1 stalemate, both thirsty lads could almost taste the refreshing fruity goodness and see that classic Balearic sunset. A rematch was decided. Same teams, different outcome.
And despite having a man sent off and being consequently dominated in the second half of the game, it was somehow Richard who snatched victory with the final kick of the game, a 93rd minute Cristiano Ronaldo free-kick.
The moral of the story? With his ego bruised, Jake took to the Ibiza spotlight forums to seek either:
A) A double or quits instalment of the trilogy with Richard to avenge of his defeat
B) A new challenger who aims to take up this tempting offer of a free drink at Ibiza's most iconic bar*
*T's & C's state challenger must be on the island between July 30th and Aug 7th to give/receive their prize
