Hi

I am wanting to take a boat trip to Formentera from San Antonio Bay and am wanting to know how long the boat trip takes, how long I will be there for and what is there to do in Formentera? I want to know this before I go so I can plan what I want to do whilst in Ibiza.

I've only ever got the boat from Ibiza Town to Formentera, from there the quick boat takes about 30 mins.

Hi there! I've never got round to getting to Formentara myself, but this year I definately will be too! I'm not speaking from experience with these suggestions but these are a couple of things that spring to mind...

-The blue bar, pretty universally considered the best known bar/resteraunt on Formentera, suppose to have a wonderfully relaxed vibe and some of the freshest fish available apparently.
http://www.bluebarformentera.com/

-As I understand, the beaches on Formentera are predominantly nude, so if that's your thing or you want to give it a try then there's plenty of choices I believe. Of course, there's non nude parts and no ones forced to:lol: (I'm pretty sure it's all beaches except the main town beach-Es pujols)

-A friend advised me to hire a bike as I dock to get around a bit faster and see as much as possible in a day, apparently the bus's are a little peculiar as far as time tables go.

-Apparently the Tanga resteraunt is worth a visit too http://www.guiaformentera.com/tanga/index.htm and the Pascual resteraunt in Es Calo http://www.guiaformentera.com/pascual/index.htm

I've not been active on this forum long, but I'm pretty certain Sylvia is the upmost authority on Formentera8) do a search for some of her posts on the place, her info is invaluable:!:

Flying from Manchester? Who knows, we may be on the same flight!8) take care.

When is it you are flying to Ibiza? I am flying on 9th of June at 05:45 with Mytravel. It would be good to know someone on the flight before I get on it.

That's not exact, beaches in Formentera are not catalogued as nude and es pujols "no nude", you can wear whatever you want there.:D

best way to get there is from ibiza town like barbie said. check the spotlight home site (commission please;) ) for details of ferry companies.

2 ways to explore. 1 by car or 2 by bike. depends how fit you are and how you want to go.

beaches are very special and like sil says not all are nude but many are.

for things to do other than beach/sunbathe,etc. my top tips would be to 1) visit the capital Sant Francesc Xavier, which reminds me of an older and very very much smaller version of havana
2) you must must visit la mola, it is an amazingly tranquil and somewhat spiritual place , don't get too close to the edge though8O 8O

it was the inspiration for much of jules verne's writings (there is a monument to him here) and it is also where many of scenes from Sex and Lucía are filmed.

Grego, the lighthouse of Lucía y el Sexo is the other one, is Cap de Barbaria one. I prefer barbaria, by the way ;)

Re beaches, nobody can say anything to you if you go naked or you don't go naked, if I'm not wrong you can go naked in all beaches in spain and nobody can oblige you to go naked if you don't feel like.

Rach, there's lots of post about formentera in the forums, make a search and read them and if you don't find something let us know

cheers sil, you know what......i always thought there was something that wasn't quite right about me thinkin those scenes in the film were set at la mola. for example, the part where she goes through that cave/hole to the sea, it never made sense because la mola is so high up. the road to the lighthouse is different as well, smaller to barbaria. also barbaria is far more isolated, only been there once and didn't stay long but would love to go back and just explore for a few hours then tomar el sol on some rocks somewhere8) 8) 8)

You are absolutly rigth, when we talk about nude beaches, nowadays, the only thing that is being said is that you would find other people that go naked, is just like if you woul feel more comfortable because you won't be the only one, nudism can be practiced in any beach of Spain. Before there used to be a criminal ofence called escandalo público.
I join a text that explain clearly enough the situation:
"Since 1978 with the coming into force of the current

Constitutional Charter it could be assumed that
nudism became another of our rights.

But we continued to drag along legislation contrary to nudity

in public, inherited from the pro-Franco period.
In this way, the offence of public scandal still existed, in the
Penal Code, which penalized nudism. This situation led to authorized
areas being established, where nudism could be practiced
freely without fear of being sanctioned. This offence was
modified in 1989 suppressing the moral nature considerations,
to adjust it to the Constitution.
Like this, all the authorizations of beaches or Naturist areas,
are based on legislation contrary to the Constitution which was
corrected in 1989 and which later disappeared in 1995 with
the repeal of the previous Penal Code, and the
approval of the current one, in which this offence is no
longer contemplated. In this way,

all authorizations –and prohibitions– are contrary to the Constitution and they constitute a discrimination. It is surprising that the authorizations which allowed the first

nudists to enjoy areas where they did not take the risk of colliding
with justice, are later the main argument which is used
against nudism, since it is professed that as authorized areas
or beaches exist, on the rest of the beaches it is not authorized,
so it is forbidden. Which is false.

At this time there is freedom

This year I am just going 2 or 3 days to ibiza and then I will go a hole week to Formentera:D :D but I do not think I will dare to practice nudism is just that I am a   jeje

Grego Barbaria is really high up too, not recommended for vertigo sufferers :D

Rent a mopped or a car and climb to barbaria, build your own stone towers and lay there watching the seagulls. That's heaven ;)
