Formentera in October?

Hi folks, yes its another Formentera thread. Initially after saying I wouldn't be back next summer, I've already had second thoughts. My rough plan is to fly out the Friday 21st September from Glasgow staying in Playa Den Bossa, take in WLS closing on the Saturday, then the week of parties after that, finishing with the Blue Marlin party on the Tuesday of the following week.

However, since I don't wanna be on Ibiza when the place is shutting down, I thought it would be nice to go and get my braincells back in Formentera for Wednesday and Thursday night.

Not really looking to do anything, but will there be shops and bars open on Formentera in this time? Will the boats still run back and forward to Ibiza?

Cheers 8)

Boats run all year long but the place will be really really quiet. Also, the days are shorter and the weather isn't the best so you may get stuck in your hotel room

Oooh, dunno if I like the sound of that. Is it much different from Ibiza? Our weather this September, whilst not exactly August weather, was pretty good most of the time.

I'm not looking for any mad nightlife, just wondered if there'd be any old man pubs and cafe's open, somewhere to grab a beer, and obviously any wee supermarkets to stock up. The plan for this part of the vacation is recuperation anyhow!

if you only want nice beaches, a local bar and a supermarket then it's fine, but the weather it's a risk cos it's autum

Opening this one up again... I am planning to do the same. I am on Ibiza from the 5th but was planning to head to Formentera for 2 nights on the 10th and 11th before I fly back to Malaga on the 12th... I'm not interested in clubs, or bars or anything.... It's just to recharge my batteries before I head back to work... (I have been banned from going back to work the da after I get back from ibiza... Something to do with leaving my brain on the dancefloor at .... Fill in the blank of your so desired club.. .. ). :D

The weather thing baffled me though, is it any different to Ibiza??? I plan to check out beaches and explore (not sun worship, I don't need that).... Was going to hire a scooter or a quad for the couple of days. I the weather is THAT much worse, I will do this on Ibiza instead, or extend my car rental or something....

I hope for some good advice.... Taaaaaaaa

the weather is exactly the same as in ibiza, but let's face it - in october it can be hit or miss! so if the forecast is good, head to formentera and if not, stay in ibiza.

first weeks in oct can be red hot.cooler at night of course.but you might get the odd shower or clouds early on till about 11am.nice time to go

why???? ^^^^ lol

I am still going to go to Formentera... sod it.

Im not worried about the weather so long as it is roughly the same as ibiza... INFACT... IM SICK OF THE BLOOMIN HEAT AND GLAD TO SEE SEPTEMBER...

I just want some quiet time.

Love Ibiza in Sept and October, best time to go I think... not full of the backward type...

I must add that the original post had been written having just had my messiest trip to the island ever, and being back in work the day after I got back (and subsequently having two two day absences in the two weeks after getting back!). I was looking for a better way to get over the excesses of closing party season!

Think this has been a bit negative!

October weather can be a lot better than late September when the thunderstorms and low pressure systems roll in, you can get days of settled weather where the sun is still hot and the sea still pleasantly warm. The day-time temperatures are the equivalent of early June, 23-25c and you wouldn't say not to a week in Ibiza in early June? In the evening the temps are rarely below 17c, even in bad weather.

Of course, it's autumn by Ibizan standards (think mid-July in the UK) so you can get three or four cloudy days with rain, but that doesn't stop peeps from getting out.

As for Formentera it can have better weather than Ibiza as it doesn't have the hills, looking over from a sunny Formentera you can often see the clouds and storms over Ibiza, the hills are just about big enough to block the progress of the moist winds (moist air rises over the hills, air cools, condensation, rain, geography "A" level stuff...:()

I've done Majorca in late October several times, got a tan, been swimming in the sea (lovely) and Majorca is a touch further north than Ibiza! Swimming pools are nippy though, and unless it's been a hot sunny day they can be bloody cold! Stick to the sea where the summer heat is retained for longer.

Here endeth the climatology lesson. I'll be asking questions later.
