I am intrigued by the number of enquiries about foreign food outlets on the island mainly I suppose because I loathe most of what is being enquired about. Accepting that I cannot stand the stench of curry, hate the boredom of pizza and am disgusted by the texture of pasta and see no joy in Chinese food - I am somewhat conservative in my tastes - why don't you try Spanish cuisine while on the island or at least food cooked in a Spanish establishment and let McDonalds rot (never had one but it looks disgustingly cardboard).
Granted I like my steaks/lamb/ox/rabbit at Es Caliu but salad followed by local octopus, prawns in sizzling olive oil and then (what I was told was) sea bass with garlic and vinegar was sumptious with a few bottles of Faustino with a finish of tarta whiskey.
Is it just me?

No, I actually checked out your website for some suggestions when I was on the island.

You have to mix it up a bit sometimes. I love mediterranean cooking, but other styles as well.

Tony, I can't agree more with you :D

Spanish cuisine is delicious and cheap and healthy and fresh. Give it a try and you'll discover how good is gazpacho when you have hangover ;)

For me it's surprising to see tourists eating only in asiatic, itialian, fast food restaurants. We are talking about Spain, one of the best gastronomies in the world, affordable and reachable in every corner of the country.
I wonder if it's something cultural, in countries like in the UK you have much more foreing restaurants than in here in Spain and I guess people is much more used to them.

hello,
for me it's important to eat the local food, when I travel I allways inform myself of the local dishes and where can I eat them.
When I go to Ibiza I try to eat the local, even so Mallorca has similar kind of food.
Cheers, and Toni I also checked your site a lot of times for restauranys and have also checked your recomendations for hiring a car and told some friends about it , as us we bringing it from Mallorca.

:D :D cheers

How about a quick list of local recommendations? ;) There's TONS scattered throughout the site but they can be a nightmare trying to find.

This is the list of restaraunts I've compiled based on reviews from this site. We'd like to hit all of them during during our two week stay but I doubt we will...

La Oliva
El Pirata
Sa Torretta
Rincon del Puerto
Pinocchio
La Brasa
Sa Capella
Coastline Café
Tijuana
Itaca
David’s Pizzeria
Rincon de Pepe
Es Caliu
La Casita
Es Bodaldo

No, they aren't all spanish cuisine but I don't plan on eating spanish cuisine the entire trip.

Any other recommendations and/or comments on the above list?

My wife LOVES pizza. We've been avoiding pizza until our trip (dieting)...any other recommendations for good pizza (cheap or not)?

personally i prefered the take away pizza from il vatican, just by mambos, they also have an italian restaurant which is meant to be very good and looks a whole lot classier, slightly more in keeping with what i think you might be after.

Hi
ofcourse their dishes are not cooked here but the style and the ingridients are similar not to say the same. I refering myself to the style :D
Cheers.

Es Ventall- just down the road from Rias Baixas. Face left at the front door of Rias Baixas and it's about 500 yards down on your right. Great setting, excellent Spanish cuisine, and good prices. I have Ibecenco friends who go there with friends and family all the time, so it MUST be good! :D

Here are four recommendations for you all :D

Ox Steak at Sa Capella, near San Antoni - a plate of raw, thinly sliced ox steak is brought to the table with a rock-salt stove so that you can cook each slice to your liking. Garlic potatoes and roasted peppers accompany the delicious steak. The wonderful setting and atmosphere of the old chapel with it's huge oak beams and high ceiling sets things off nicely.

Seafood Paella at Es Boldado, Cala d'Hort - two or more people can share this delicous paella which is full of tasty seafood and white fish pieces. The view across the bay to Es Vedra is one of the best of any restaurant on the island.

Solomillo a la Pimienta at Villa Mercedes, San Antoni - very delicious fillet steak with a pepper sauce. This restaurant is a wonderful place to eat with views across the marina and a relaxing chill-out area to enjoy a drink and a smoke after your meal.

Dorada (sea bream) Grilled on the Back at Sa Trinxa, Ses Salines - beautiful crisp grilled bream served with chips and a side salad. The lively beach atmosphere at Sa Trinxa is second to none with great tunes and super-friendly staff.
