Food shopping

All being well we,ll be coming to Ibiza, San Antonio 7th December for 9 days, we,re going to do self catering for a change, how easy is it to go food shopping at that time of year without a car,
We were going to be flying but as hubby has major tummy surgery 19th Nov hes not allowed to fly, so its train from home to London,on the 4th Dec, eurostar to Paris, a night in Paris then train to Barcelona, thankfully with our own room on the train so hubbyy can lie down,
then ferry over another 9 hours, but with a cabin again, finally arriving on the Island on the 7th, WHAT A JOURNEY,
I suggested other resorts on the Island but hubby wants to come to San Antonio, he fancies trying the penguin rock bar, plus we were told last time we came that out of season san an is still nice but a lot quieter with people havin b b qs on the beach instead of sunbathing,
but my concern is are we going to be able to buy food reasonably close, its me thats going to have to carry it, so dont want to wander very far, noticed thats there are supermarkets on the way to Ibiza town, but not sure how easy they are to get to without a car, and if theyre still open in December, any help gratefully received,

there's a suma in the centre of san an, the indoor market for meat, fish and veg, the farmers' market in the cafe del mar area, AND both thomas green's and peter the butcher will deliver to your accommodation.
the 8th is a public holiday so there will only be one or two shops (if any) open and only in the morning.
you'll still be able to get buses from san an to ibiza via san rafael and san jose and also round the bay but you won't have any option to get to beaches other than a taxi.
as the don says, weekends are lively time in san an - you'll be astonished by all the spanish kids in the west end - they come from all over the island for the musica nacional in the bars there. i think you'll also be surprised how nice san antonio is with the christmas lights on.

We,re thinking of coming to either the Tramuntana or san Francisco apartments, we are coming self catering so he can relax in joggers in the apartment if need be, and not have to get dressed up to go the a restaurant in a hotel, hes not used to wearing joggers, so he,ll not be happy wearing them, lol, but needs must,
Thanks for the info on the penguin bar. and shopping, I know people on the island need to eat lol, but wasnt sure if the only supermarkets could be reached by car,
I did know about the public holiday, we just miss another one on the 6th dont we,
We were going to come to the Arcomar but its a bit far out, and I presume the water taxis wont be running in December,
The island looks lovely in December from what Ive seen, very green,
We are planning on moving there in a couple of years once we,ve learnt the language, and hubby has a job sorted over there.I work but I can work anywhere as long as I have a phone line and internet,so it will be lovely to see the Island properly without all the hustle and bustle of rowdy tourists,
