I cannot believe this after all the pregnancy talk of today, this is payback time to me  8O

(No I'm not pregnant    )

But on a serious note Tom got a phonecall from his brother, him and his wife are having another baby 8O So obviously we're really happy for them (altho it's a complete unexpected shock for them, they have one little girl who's 3 and weren't planning on anymore) but Audrey is going to be 7 months pregnant at the time so flying to Ibiza is probably not what the NHS recommends.

So the problem is - we've already paid for their flights and accomodation (they are gutted they can't come) but there's no way we could take money off them to pay us.

Most of our guests have already booked their flights and accomodation, there's a chance we might be able to swap some of the accomodation for the main wedding party (family and close friends) to a bigger place but the flights are booked thru thomsonfly who I've found out tonight charge the most extorniate charges to change names/flight details so even if anyone bought the flights off us it would mean they could fly way cheaper with Easyjet or BA.

So being the resourceful old gal I am, the most logical thing would be for me and Tom to change the flights to us for another trip. With getting married and Tom's 30th that really only leaves August to go in, I've been once in August before years ago and that was over Radio1 wkend and I found it just waaaaayyyy to busy/beer boy-ish etc but if it's August or nothing (and it will just be for a Fri - Mon sesh) what wkend would people recommend (Space Birthday/August Bank Holiday/advice needed pls!! :? )

Well you know way more about Ibiza than me ;)

The wedding is in June right? I'm not sure I understand.. if Tom's brother and his wife aren't coming anyway, what is it that you want to switch around? I understand it must be disappointing, but could you just have a nice celebration with them when you get back? or are you talking about changing the wedding day completely?

I think there's an E missing there, which makes things a bit clearer, assuming I've got the right end of the stick! (I re'read a fair few times!)

I went R1 weekend lasty year. It wasn't nearly as bad as what I was expecting, though the Headliners for most of the places were the Household names. Space had Sinclar and Guetta, and frankly, a prolapsed womb would have been more fun, and musically stimulating. See if you can see if you can pick a 'good' Space weekend (as they're the only semi-reliable listings page), and go then.

No no no (sorry I waffle on and don't explain myself very well   )

Wedding is all booked in June and 40 guests coming so that's all sorted and me and Tom are out there for 11 days.

We've also got just under 2 weeks booked in September for Closings and Tom's 30th.

So we have got these 2 flights booked in Tom's brother's and his wife's name for June - I don't know anyone who would want them and thomsonfly charge such extorniate admin fees for changing names/dates that anyone who wanted to go at that time would be better off booking Easyjet or BA. So rather than just lose what we've paid for their 2 flights me and Tom were thinking we may as well pay the charges and go for a cheeky weekend ourselves but it would have to be in August - so I was asking advice on best weekend to go in August. I only have experience of going in August once years ago so am way out of touch with what the kidz do  ;)

i went in august in 2005, and it wasnt as busy as i had expected, but was still too much. i wouldn't do it again unless i could only go then. how weird is that you get that news today as well?! guess the irony was lost on tom!

yeah!! then go!!:)
when you're already going for (3/4??) trips a year whats one more???.. I haven't been in August either.. but I'd think any weekend there is better than a weekend at home!

That's my thing, we once had to go years ago in August cos of other things going on in the summer and we both said never again.......but I guess I'm just being a fussy old cow cos some people would swap a collapsed womb for a wkend in Ibiza  ;)

August isn't that bad, yes the clubs are packed, but after about 4am all the crowds go and thats when the parties start going! Nothing to worry about Barbie :)

the only thing that put me off going in August again is the heat - i really suffered from it - although that year we had no a/c......

other than R1 wknd......i don't think any other time particularly stands out from another. you know WLS will be good whatever, so i suppose just try and find out listings (if any are available in advance) and then do it that way.

btw - i didn't understand what you were waffling on about either.8O:?

God for a minute then I thought you were preggers!!! :D August isn't a bad time - its what you make of it! Obviously you wouldn't be venturing to any chav type places so i'd say go in August or you can give your tickets to me! ;)
