Im sure I seen a post about this before but I cant find it anywhere!

Anyway I have a small gig in Ibiza when im over on holiday thanks to a promoter from my home town and need to take over a few records.

Does anyone know if you can take a UDG type record bag on as hand luggage? The bag holds about 50 records though I wont be filling it right up?

Also whats the chances of being hit with an excess baggage charge?

You should be fine. I've seen someone on an Easy Jet flight with a UDG bag (90 capacity) as hand luggage, and I've been told they won't charge you extra.

Where and when you playing Kris :?:

Just been on a flight today, easyjet are apparently now not checking weight of hand luggage but size. Just about managed to squeeze my hed kandi bag in it today you´ve prob only got room for 40 I´d say. UDG bags may be a problem though as they hold their shape and you may not be able to fit them in!!!!!

Tell them you want to put it in the front hold with the pushchairs and stuff and keep your fingers crossed.

Good Luck!!!!!

Rules and tips

Unfortunetly I fly lotsa times ;-)

So here's some travel-with-my-records-tips

The UDG trolley is specially made for overheadlockers. If you don't put too much stuuf in the frontpocket it will allways fit. With smaller planes, your handluggage will be tagged and you can leave your bag at the gate (so you are sure it gets on the plane) and pick it up at the gate when you arrive again.

If they dont'look at the size when you check in, they will check the weight. Officially it's 6 kilo's. When I only carry my cd's in the trolly, it is just about 6 as the bag itself weighs around 2 or 3 kilo's itself also....

So you need a trick.... Easy.... I've got one UDG softbag (the big one) which I fill with all my records. I will only keep the cd's in my trolly. When checking in I say that my record bag (the big UDG one) needs to be taken as oversized luggage. So when i bring my bag to the oversized luggage counter, I fill up my trolley with all the important records....
It'sa bit cheecky... but works all the time!!!

So look at size and weight for any bag you bring on, especially easyjet was very strict when I flew with them. But you will notice that even the same airline as last time can be less or more strict than the last time...

What also works is wink at the girl behind the counter (allways make sure you check in at a counter with a fit looking girl) and bring some promo CD's so you can bribe her when she's being a bit strict.... just be slick ;-)
LOL!

Good luck!

oohh yes and never leave your housekeys in the checked in luggage (Allways seems to be the case when my bags don't arrive)..
