Been itching to get my feet onto one of these for ages. Finally got it together and had a go at Reggae Beach / Playa Pinet on Monday.
As things were quiet mid-afternoon, Ibiza Wake agreed an 'intro' price of 70Euros for 25 minutes - which drifted into 1/2 an hour. 10 Euros extra for a CD full of photos taken by a guy who worked as a journalist for a Spanish newspaper in London before (most of which have been duly censored to protect the identity of the innocent ! ).
Compared to Playa d'en Bossa prices, this was a very good deal especially on your first go when you know at least 5-10 minutes will be spent trying to get familiar with a new toy ! I'd suggest taking a memory stick along and asking them to put the photos on that - this way you won't have to wait till you get home to see them .
It's weird starting out face down in the water (unlike a wakeboard/skis etc where you are face-up and 'crouched'). Also took me ages to work out how to reposition in the water to start getting up - the instructions were "make like Superman" lol). This was actually very accurate - you stretch out full on your side or face down and point your hands in the direction you want to go. This takes you and the giant 'hose' sailing off in that direction till you get where you want to be positioned to "fly" from.
After a few balance issues and fighting the urge to bend knees (a no-no - legs to stay straight and relaxed), I successfully got air on the beast and dignity in front of the surrounding spectators sat on their boats was duly restored !
So would I do it again ? Can't blooming wait
