Flight path changed?

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread, I'm sure it'll be moved to the correct home though!

Noticed someone else comment on this and thought it deserved its own thread (unless there is one already, I couldn't see one?)

When we flew in earlier this season I noticed we didn't do the same approach down the PDB coastline, our hotel was right on this side of the island and had expected 'noise' when sunbathing but instead the airplanes were outbound over PDB instead of inbound (quite good for the peace & quiet) but was definitely missing when enjoying some of the outdoor events at Ushuaia etc! So....has the flight path route been changed? If so, what's the reason? It's not as if the hotel along the flight path haven't been used to this disturbance for years / decades!

I'm pretty sure it can change depending on wind direction and weather. I've been staying at salines for a while watching the planes take off and land in different directions each day.

It's changed. All flights over PDB are outgoing. Not sure what to say.....

Still managed to see many outgoing planes flying over Ushuaia, pointing and laughing at them because they were going home whilst we were enjoying R1 or Creamfields etc... Until a few days later, and we were the same mugs taking off and flying over it just as Armin's ASOT was finishing :(

There was a couple that flew in over PDB this morning but it wasn't long before it swapped again

In short, pilots like to take off into a headwind because it helps them achieve "wheels up" faster. "A jetliner like a Boeing 747, needs at least 150 mph of airspeed to become airborne," "Without wind, the plane has to accelerate to a ground speed of 180 mph to lift off, but when you have a 30 mph headwind, the plane only has to accelerate to 150 mph, thanks to the extra boost it gets from the headwind.".
