First time in Ibiza...AND alone...advice needed please :-)

Hi everyone

As the thread suggests, I'm looking to go to Ibiza for the first time this year. I was hoping to go with my friends but for various reasons they can't make it (£££, not getting time off work, etc) but I really don't want this to stop me, as I've been delaying for so long in going and don't want to miss the boat!

So I'm aiming to go, alone...I guess my questions are:

- Is it easy to meet people \ maybe fellow solo-trippers? Would this depend on where I stayed (in terms of venue but also in terms of the type of place...hostel over hotel, etc) Hostel is my first shout in terms of meeting people but then of course it brings its own risks as to who you'll be in with etc! I consider myself a sociable guy who can meet new people comfortably, but having said I'm not a massive extrovert or anything like that!

-Is it best to pre-book certain events? I'm figuring so in terms of it booking to be cheaper but then again I don't want to be tied down to going somewhere if, for example, if I do meet people out there and they're not going to these places.

- Lastly (and I'm aware asking this on an Ibiza board may be foolish and it's down to personal opinion!) is it absolutely preferable to go to Ibiza (considering I'm a lone traveller, etc) then places such as Zante, Magaluf? From what I gather, the only downside I hear about Ibiza is the price and the other places I listed have, say, a (stereotypical?) rep for teenage chavs, etc etc. Has anyone got any comparable stories between Ibiza and these places?

I'm aiming to go when I have holiday time, which would be late July (Monday 21st for a week or so).

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Cheers :)

Welcome to the forum fogster :).

I have been on solo trips to Ibiza an a few occasions now and never had any issues meeting up with people.
On one trip i arranged a meet up with 2 people off the forum prior to landing and had a good couple of nights out with them. Once you know the exact dates you'll be there you can look out for posts from people who'll be there the same time and arrange meets with them.
I think staying at a hotel with a pool and bar always helps, makes it fairly easy to interact and meet people.

It can be a bit cheaper to pre book events but so long as you dont pay on the door the differences arent that huge and you have more flexibility if you wait until on the island.

Cheers for your reply Evolution

Yeah once it's booked for definite I'll look into seeing if anyone is around for those exact dates. Are those dates all good in terms of busyness \ events going on and the like do you reckon?

Yeah I am thinking a hotel over a hostel...hostel could be awesome but it could really be a lottery as to who you are roomed with, which could make a big difference...at least with a hotel, like you say, there are sociable areas to meet people but also time for your own space (or at least that's the plan!)

Went last year for first time. And travelled solo as in same boat as yourself.

Had WhatsApp numbers off people through this forum. And gotta say made some good friends. Seriously one of the best weeks I had.

I'd say you gotta stay Playa den Bossa purely for location. Although slightly more expensive. Chatted to loads of other people as well.

Do it. It'll be a great experience.

I am in the same boat as you, going solo. My buddy, who has been, and I bought plane tickets and were both supposed to go from 22 July to 27 July, but he had to bail. Should still be a blast but I guess I'll have to wing it now.
