+ some good quality Sennheiser headphones.

iPod schmiPod :P

I've heard good things about the iRiver.

Still quite like my iPod mini.... though I don't carry it much anymore since I got a phone with a gig of music storage 8)

Drew have you seen the new ipod nano?

it was launched yesterday and it's a beauty
It does look great...

Only I can't understand why the launched it with 2gb and 4gb sizes for the same prices as the old iPod mini (now discontinued) which had 4gb and 6gb :? Apple sometimes just boggles the mind.

I've checked the apple store and it seems the mini one is not anymore in sale

Not seen that one no.

Looked around for months and decided on iRiver because of the features it has and was told iRiver are the Sony of MP3 players.

I also like the fact it has a detachable rechargeable battery so you can carry spare(s).

I went for the 5GB (also available in 6/20GB) but i don't see the point in paying extra for the capacity as i simply won't use it.

Silvia - They've discontinued the iPod Mini now that the Nano has been released. :?

Drew - I agree re: storage. Portability is more important...even with 4 gb I find I don't listen to half the stuff I load on there.

Drew, this one was launched yesterday evening.
The one you are up for looks very smart. I'm very apple orientated (I live with a graphic designer) but I've heard good things on the iriver.

The detachable battery is a great point, altho my new minipod battery lastes for ages.

I'm shocked 8O I really didn't see that one coming. Just got my iPod mini in August. I love it, although Apple really could've included an FM radio in it.

Good taste.

I considered the shiny silver one but worried about it getting scratched.

It's not here yet :?

Peppermint,
My friend got hers two weeks ago 8O

And I thought I was hip, but I see I was soooo last season

Well I'm happy with the mini iPod though, because the nano one looks like I might break or lose it.

Yeah, i prefer something with at least a little bit of bulk/weight to it in case i lost it.

You can now get a 1GB MP3 player which is only the size of a 2p piece 8O
