ferries are confusing

gday everyone, i'm an Aussie guy coming to ibiza on 26th July for the first time with two mates and was planning on getting the ferry from barcelona.
I've looked at the websites for the ferry companies and can see the dates and prices to book tickets now but i was wondering if you can just rock up, buy a ticket on the day and go. If you can do the ferries run frequently. I just hate organising things in advance in case i change my mind on how long i want to stay somewhere etc.
Any info is appreciated.

I don't know if the ferries are already fully booked, but 26th july is too close of the main run-away from Barcelona so I would definitly go for tickets in advance.

Theres a serious fook-off aluminium hulled jet ferry parked out in the harbour here that does Ibiza-Barcelona in four hours, in leaves Ibiza in the am (8:30) and Barcenola just after lunch, every 2nd day as far as I can figure. I think you can just pitch up and buy a ticket its quite a monster, I am planning on getting it back to Barcelona next Wed.

The web site is http://www.trasmediterranea.es/home.htm please check that for more info

The fast ferry it's a Balearia boat: www.balearia.net
Transmediterranea needs 10 hours of journey.

We went in sept. in 2002, booked the tickets the same day and we had no problems what so ever. But like Silvia said, book the tickets in advance in july!!
The cheapest way is by Transmeditteranea and Umafisa (10 hours), I think they left 2 times a day. U´ll get there in 4 hours also, but IMO not worth the price.
Another problem is that they don´t speak any english (NO english at all) at the ticket desks :(

taking my car to ibiza

Hi I will be in spain in September and am heading to Ibiza for the closing week ie Sept 24th. I want to take my car across. I'm flexible which port on the mainland i leave from ie could be Valencia, Barcelona, Denia etc. I want to know how much it will cost and what the cheapest port is to depart from. I've been looking on various websites and the prices seem really high ie 500 euros for 2 people and car. Is that realistic? Does anyone know how much it should cost and what the cheapest port is to leave from? Websites, phone numbers etc would be fantastic.

Thanks very much.

i just had a quick looksie

www.balearia.net

denia ibz return 2 people and 1 car €436
(though they sometimes do special offers where the car goes free if you book the super duper seats as passengers)

www.iscomar.com

as above but €270

iscomar is the cheapest - but the boat's a bit of a tub, but it's the one i use.

however the cost of the car on iscomar is €162 - depending on how long you're staying it could work out cheaper to hire a car here??

Denia is pretty easy to get to with good road links from the north, centre, and south of spain.
