Not too bad for a couple of months practice. You could do with using the EQ a little more and making your mixes longer but thats obvious stuff.

Your beat matching was a long way out a couple of times but to be honest it will all come with practice.

I quickly flicked through it this morning

Didnt really get a chance to listen to the mixing, but firstly I'd like to point out that you should really get your TL's right

"dis dis dis" I assume is Sandy Rivera - I Can't Stop

4b is a sample from Steven Mestre And Wilson Santos - Judgements and Misconceptions IIRC. And use the full thing on this one, not just the snippet. Its the best speech acapella there is IMO

An I'd personally use the vocal version on kujay dada. It makes the tune.

Thats all I can comment on at this stage. Sorry, sounds a bit harsh!

Think he was more interested in comments on his actual mixing. And I dont think it's right to comment on versions of tracks he's used - thats a personal thing which makes DJ'ing what it is.

Fair enough, but I did mention at this stage that I hadn't listened to the mix.

Especially if hes starting out, IMO it sounds if you are water-tight with the knoledge of your own tunes, in some respects, it shows you really DO know your stuff, and not some random amateur wannabe. Not the most important factor in djing obviously, but like I said, if he's starting out, it'sbest to get into that good practice.

A full review will probably follow if I have the time.

Also, I do think its right to comment on the versions of the track, and if necesary, even the tracks. DJing is mostly mixing ability and tune selection. Admittedly you cant really teach people to have a good ear for a tune, but if he had a tune which was overtly cheesy in an otherwise deep underground set, than wouldnt it be right to say something?

And even so, I said it was my personal choice, not standard fact that it was wrong. ie. my opinion.

8) ;)

I agree regarding the tracklisitngs that was just lazyness on my behalf.
I just didnt think it would look right as nearly every song has an acapella on it.

Regatding Kujay Da Da Young hearts i think i was right to use the dub as the vocal version wouldnt really fit in well withing the set but thats all down to personnal opinion.

Regarding the misconceptions acapella think that just shows my lack of experience, although i was just trying to spice up the mix.

I thought the beatmatching wasn't too bad for most of it although i do know it was way out going into track 3.

I am glad you commented though and i would ask that people give an honest opinion as this is the only way i am ever going to improve.

Thanks again.

I'll post another mix next month and you can see if i have taken the comments on board.

Sorry about the last comment I made Kris - it wasnt meant to sound condescending - I just meant that you are an amatuer DJ who's wants to play out.

Your mixing is actually better than some of the 'big' name's I have heard out !!

;)

All in all the mix is nice and well built. Decent work on the mixes as well.

My only problem is with the already-way-too-many-times canned acapellas and tunes there :)
