Have spent the last month putting all my albums on my Ipod and came across some beauties which never age.

Cast - All Change
probably my favourite indie album, some amazing tracks - John Power was a hero of mine, so much so that the first decent electric guitar I bought, I copied one he had been playing ! (I was a teenager at the time !)

Green Day - Dookie
got into Green Day back in 94/95 before anyone had really heard of them and this album was stunning - proper catchy punk before it became trendy again. Every track on it is great.

Oasis - What's The Story...

REM - Automatic For The People/Out Of Time
Some of my fave REM tracks on these albums.

The La's - The La's
See comment about John Power !

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Lyndsay Buckingham is one of the greatest guitarists on the planet

Erasure - The Innocents
don't laugh - I was and still am a big Erasure fan. Vince Clarke perfected the new era synth thing with Yazoo and carried it on in a pop vein with Andy Bell - who is as camp as a row of tents, but a great showman.

Verve-urbans Hymns
U2 Joshua- Tree
Stone Roses-Stone Roses
Happy Mondays - Pills Thrills, Bellyaches
Joy Division - Closer
Beatles - Revolver
Primal Scream - Screamadelica
Doves - Lost Souls
Oasis - Definately Maybe
Love -Forever Changes
New Order - Substance (Ok a greatest hits it may be but it's great)
Pink Floyd - The Wall
LLoyd Cole & The Commotions - Rattlesnakes
Blondie-Paralell Lines
New Radicals-Maybe You've Been Brainwashed too?
to name but a few!!!! ;)

Sonic Youth - Dirty - my intro to grunge along with Butthole Surfers, Swans and Big Black

John Foxx - Modern Art - An early intro to Electo/synth music

Pixies - Doolittle - Brilliant band!

Dionne Warwick sings the Bacharach songs - fantastic for singing along on long drives to Liverpool

Toots and the Mayfields - nice bit of reggae for the summer

hmm, I think, you'll get on with Matt, he has some similar tastes. Actually, I could have put New Order "Substance" as well....

Northern Uproar were hilarious - they were to Oasis as Northside were to Happy Mondays

Also on a Manchester tip - ever come across Brubaker managed by Paul Gallagher, brother of Liam and Noel? My mate was the drummer. They appeared on some documentary about Manc band to watch and the cheap Liam parody of a singer said:

"I've just always known I'm gonna shhhiinnnee our kid. You know what I mean? It's fate - I was never gonna work in my folks dry cleaners - I'm a rock and roll staaarrr!"

As I said to him a month later:

"Hello mate, how's it going? Any chance I can have this suit back by Thursday? I've a got job interview. Try and get the curry sauce out this tie too, won't you? There's a good lad!"
