Hi girls,

I went to a new hairdressers last night, some deal I had from work, its literally the one next door to us at work so they offer special invitations at xmas as we are neighbours etc etc you get the gist. Anyway i wasnt really impressed bit of a bad attitude in there but anyway.......

I know my hair is badly damaged as I do abuse it with my straighteners, I probably straighten it every other day and also use hairdryer to dry it although I only rough dry it.

But I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good treatments that ACTUALLY work as I have bought all the ones on the high street and they are obviously not really helping as when she was cutting my hair she showed me a bit missing where my straighteners had broken the hair and it was uneven so I need something I can use on the ends of my hair to condition it and stop it from breaking also something that can withstand the straightening - now and then, I have decided during the week i am just going to leave it and not use the straighteners. But I still need some kind of conditioning treatment.

Any ideas? I hear oils can be good but dont know where to start

I'm a fan of kerastase - really expensive but really good! They do a masque - can't think what its called but its excellent for damaged hair!:D

The Redken range are really good, especially the "All Soft Heavy Cream" Put it on towel dried hair and wrap it in cling film, then a towel, then get in the bath for a while and rinse it off. My hair has really light highlights in it and can get really dry and straw like, this sorts it out.

Ooh a girlie thread, what more do we need on a wet Wednesday morning :D

As Jessy said, Keratese is really good, also Aveda - Damage Remedy Treatment or Deep Penetrating Hair Revitalizer are both good - I do think you get what you pay for with hair stuff so I never tend to scrimp on low price products for hair esp if you've got an unmanageable 'fro like me 8O

Yeah I mean at the moment I am using the Pantene Brunette stuff which is good (not as good as John Frieda) and I am using the intensive treatment that goes with it but its just not doing anything.

I dont mind spending out just want something that actually works.

The product that was mentioned when you wrap your hair in cling film sounds quite promising.

Need to get myself down a hairdressers shop or one of those outlet store things! We have a new one opened up near us might have to check it out.

If I carry on I will end up with no hair 8O No wonder it hasnt grown much!

my hairdresser told me to do that with it, also there are protein treatments that are really good for strengthening hair if you are trying to grow it. Ive used Redken Extreme Fuel in the past :)

Thanks :)
I need to do something, and I really want it to grow. Its also really thinned out over the years, obviously something to do with the straigtening or abuse its had. I used to have highlights too and bleach really does dry my hair out so its a bit of a mess at the moment. Looks ok but is a mess deep down

I always been told that Pantene is really bad for your hair, whenever ive tried to use it my hair goes all wierd after a few washes, and my highlights started to look a bit greenish :?

I'd never have thought your hair was in bad condition Emma, on your photos it looks really thick and shiny and glossy (kind of like Lilly Allen's  ;) )

Do you go on www.hairhq.com - I love that website, it's got virtually every hair brand you can think of.

To be honest I didnt like it because I used the Ice Shine stuff they brought out and thought it was pants. And then I tried the intensive treatment from Pantene and it did make my hair feel soft and smell nice so I thought I give the whole range a go but was probably a bad idea

Did you see the pic of her in Look, her hair looked luvverly!!!! I wished mine was as good.

And looks are deceiving

I think its because I hated it dark last year so I had it all stripped back to a lighter colour (big mistake) then I decided I wanted it dark again but first I went red, then back to dark and in between all the colouring I had 2 holidays so its one big scarecrow bush at the mo :p
