My Eurotrip in a nutshell... AMAZING
Here is a little overview/reflection back on my trip to Europe...
I was traveling by myself almost the entire time which I was nervous about at first, but it ended up being an amazing experience and learning process about myself... I have looked back at the days I spent in the various cities and I can't remember many times I was actually by myself because everywhere I went I met such cool/wonderful people.
Krakow - It was definitely an eye opener . I saw the peak of human malice and evil at Auschwitz. While walking through it I felt a cold chill through my body that people could actually do such horrible things. It was the low point of humanity.
The actual city was really nice and the people there were great. I could definitely see Krakow becoming the new Prague in terms of clubbing when Prague adopts the euro because people in Krakow LOVE to party and there are SO many clubs.
Prague - What a beautiful city! Every single building is built with such detail and elegance. This time around there were just too many damn tourists! I was walking across the St. Charles bridge and it was absolutely packed with fat/ugly/obnoxious tourists from one end to the other . The other times I had been to Prague there were not many tourists but this time was horrible in that regard.
On the other hand, the clubbing experience was amazing! I went to a club called the Duplex (see the description in earlier posts) I met some Russian girls there which was really a cool thing because as an American we don't meet many Russians (at least I don't). It is like bridging a gap between two peoples who get along great person to person but not as a whole... Also met some girls from Finland the same night. They were really sweet and I must go to Finland some day...
Munich - Didn't get to do much here because I had to catch a train to Milan to fly to Ibiza after only a night. I did manage to go to the largest science museum in the world which was cool. I also made it to the hofbräuhaus. I drank 5 liters of the dark beer and let me tell you-I don't remember much about Munich lol! I do know that it had amazing beer/food/people, I just don't have a clue about how I made it to my train on time...
IBIZA!!!! - My whole reason for coming to europe was to go to Ibiza. I love the place. Beautiful people/beaches/clubs/music/way of life/EVERYTHING!!! I loved walking around the hippie markets because they remind me of home (Boulder is hippie central in the US). If Auschwitz was the low point of humanity, Ibiza is the high point. It is a place where you can be yourself, no matter how crazy that self might be, and people will just smile and dance right along with you. There were so many times where I felt tears coming to my eyes because I was filled with so much happiness. I would trade the entire rest of my trip just for my 9 days in Ibiza... Here is why-
Space Opening Fiesta - WOW! Space truly out did themselves. The carpark was amazing! Its only flaw was that there was no cover from the hot sun like the year before. This made people go inside for most of the daytime until the sun was lower so that it wasn't so damn hot. The vibe I got in the sunset terrace was so so so great. Tingly feelings from head to toe most of the time. The set Tom Novy played was the best set I've heard from a DJ ever. I was standing in the middle of the dance floor where the sound he was putting out vibrated my body/soul/mind to the peak of happiness. One song in particular, a remix of a song by Rune, was so well done that people were pushed to the point where no one could even dance, they could only leap into the air as high as they could in a state of sheer ecstasy! I've never seen a dance floor do that before... After his set I made my way to the discotech for the last bit of Digweed and Sasha's set and the beginning of Cox's. That was great, especially when they passed a sheet over the whole crowd (tripped me out). On the whole, I feel so privileged to have been to the LARGEST PARTY IN THE HISTORY OF IBIZA!!!
DC-10 - This was my best clubbing experience ever. The music was so different than what I am used to but in such a good way. I met some really cool English people there, some of which were DJ's and they invited me to come to a party they were playing at the next night. The best part of circo loco was how EVERYONE was on the same wavelength (all were so drugged/partied out). It truly was one crazy circus of humanity .
Itica - This was the party the DJ's I had met at DC-10 played at. It was a day of great music capped off by a killer set by Kate Lawler (she is so HOT!!!)
Pacha Subliminal Sessions Opening Party - I arrived without any cash on me, so I was trying to find out where the nearest cash machine was. I tried to ask the door staff but they kinda blew me off with the whole "I don't speak english" thing. So I explained the situation to this German couple I had just met and the guy spoke to one of the bouncers who shuffled us to the front on the line. The bouncer at the door was not going to allow me in because I was wearing sandals but luckily there was an amazingly hot chick standing right next to me who was wearing some crappy sandals too so he decided it was ok but "just you". So as I was trying to give my credit card to the guy to pay the cover charge and I was asking where a cash machine was. He was like "over by the bathrooms across the dance floor" and I said ok, and tried to hand him the credit card to pay the 45 euro cover charge. At which point he was like "its right across on the other side of the dance floor" and he pushed me into the club! So it went from me not being allowed in, to me getting in for free! SWEET!!! The club was amazing and Eric Morillo really knew how to work the crowd into a real frenzy. Great way to spend my last night in Ibiza.
Amsterdam - I was in full recovery mode by the time I got here due to the 5 days of straight partying in Ibiza. Luckily the bud/booze/people were so nice. Relaxed my two days away while watching some quality soccer, and reflecting upon the time that was in Ibiza.
Denmark - My roomate from the states had a great place on the beach. The girls in Denmark are gorgeous, and they love Americans!!! I seriously just had to walk up to the hottest girl and say "hi, I'm an American, Do you speak english?" and that was a sufficient line to begin a nice half hour long conversation- lol! Had a great time here.
As a whole my trip taught me many things. Things about life, myself, history, culture, music, partying, you name it. The words of a particular song come to mind that will ring in my head every time I feel down and out -
"Music is the answer... Just gotta keep on dancin..."
I will post pics and videos from my trip soon so keep an eye out (I got some especially good ones at Space and DC-10)
