With the exchange rates favouring us Brits at the mo, how are folk finding prices this year?

Are you noticing your euros going a bit further?

Yes, I certainly did. It's much better than the 1 to 1 ratio we had in 2010.

€45 club tickets don't sting quite so much. Still expensive though

you come back with money ? 8O .. I've yet to leave Ibiza airport with more than a couple of Euros left in my pocket !

I can usually scrape enough together for a Salami baguette and a water (which I have to ration out over the flight home).

Fly in like a king, fly out like a tramp!

we go out feeling like millionaires come home in our workin class personas.........wouldent have it any other way:D love it !

Seeing the euro is now at 1.4! Can we expect prices of things to rise in Ibiza this summer? e.g. drinks in clubs

Somebody more informed than me (kimajy?) about these things suggested that the exchange rate is likely to get more volatile in the wake of our general election result, should there be a hung parliament again. So maybe worth buying those €uros sooner rather than later.

I've been watching it quite keenly with a wedding to pay for at the end of May in Ibiza. This is just about the lowest it has been. I do think it will be more volatile over UK election so might be worth buying some now. I think euro will stay relatively weak regardless with this Greek thing going on in the background. It could get really mad if something unexpected happens during the election. A UKIP/ Conservative coalition probably worst case scenario although pretty unlikely.

For UK people I suggest trying asda money, really good rates and I think they do deals on exchanging back too.

Question is buy before or after the election , hmm

Combination of factors:

1) Greek uncertainty
2) Euro Central Bank Quantative Easing policy
3) General deflation across Eurozone including Germany

Assuming the continuation of all above then likely to see Sterling (and other major currencies) trading strongly against the Euro. Up 10pc from last year and around 25pc over last 5/6 years. I've noticed a big difference on trips last few years.

Anyway, economics lesson over...I'll get my coat and stop being a dweeb.

If only we had a crystal ball and knew if it was going to fall significantly further! I've got quite a lot of Euros to pay for a 'special day' so have bitten the bullet and paid off a large chunk yesterday as 1.40 is such a good rate. Although it was 1.42 a few weeks ago.

Reckon the pound will weaken after the general election as I can't see an outright winner.

This approach is sensible. I was in Italy a few weeks ago and had reserved a room some time ago. It was payable in Euros so I got a Eurocard and fired the amount of Euros onto it the month before I left - think was about 400 or so - that covered me and I was happy with the rate I got, happy with the Euros I had to pay the hotel so it didn't really matter how much it then fluctuated in the lead up as I was locked in so to speak.

who;s giving you 140 142..you sure that was not the bank rate of the day, most you would get on most sites or other places in spain is 136....unless you ask about changing more.like say 2k you might be given more.just a tip as well not much but places on island like cala longa es cana give you a few euro;s more.been like it for years.used to best to use nationwide card but the stop that and started charging you %.. like most i am just happy its better than years ago.now i can spend a bit more and give tips better.
