Essential Mix - Paul Oakenfold (2012)

Fallen out with trance, but i made a note to tune into this as Oakies previous mixes have been legendary. What I really love about this latest one is how melodic it is which seems to be missing from trance these days.

Just got round to listening to this a few weeks on and I absolutely love it. It will be getting a listen over there in a few weeks :)

Agreed. Paul really pulled it out of the bag for this Essential Mix.
Can't believe he's done over 30!

I know, and I only have about 7 of them, it's my mission now to get the rest8)

get yourself onto the 4 hour live Broadcast from Creamfields 1998 with him, Tong & Sasha. It's amazing!

I'm amazed the mix is a good as it is. I copied it to my phone right away. Who knew Paul still had it in him. I wish he could string together sets like this live. This is far more interesting to listen to than a top 20 of generic trance AVB set.

Sadly Paul is still AWFUL live when he doesn't have a studio and lots of time to work.

I agree he's not at his best live, like he used to be, but awful? I wouldn't go that far but hey my view is just my opinion like yours is;)
Paul Oakenfold isn't everyones cup of tea these days, like he was back in the 90's.
For me he still brings that certain something to a venue, and still manages to get the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end8)

I saw him twice at ASOT in August and he was amazing. I used to go to Cream @ Nation in the early days and he was normally amazing then i saw him in Amnesia a couple of times alongside Tiesto and PVD and he was awful, just looked really bored and played a load of crap. This essential mix and his ASOT sets look very similar (from what i can remember :D) so i'm looking forward to giving it a listen
