Essential Mix 2016 - Aly & Fila

2012 I believe was the last essential mix for trance. Good to see it back on Radio 1, even if it was just for one Essential Mix.
 
There was a good selection last year with cream, asot and ferry and a few others. I recently got back from asot 750 in holland. Was one of the best nights of my life, the best being in ibiza of course

The kind of stuff coming off the likes of Mistique Music, Bonzai Prog and some of the stuff off JOOF?
All over that stuff at the moment.

I hope there's a lot of that this year. I'm bored of the 138+ movement.

It's been said before (probably by me too), the high point (for me) for trance was probably the late 90s and it helped propel Ibiza to even greater heights but suspect it was almost a victim of it's own success.

I'd agree with you on that. Thing is, the other dance music genres like Techno, etc, are wayyyyy bigger than trance. Will one of them become the next EDM?
Deep house already enjoys a lot of commercial success after all.
