Es Cavallet - where to park?

Hi all,

I haven't been to Es Cavallet since many years, and looking at Google Maps I see there is only a parking which seems reserved to the shops/beach clubs there. Where else is it possible to park? Only Ses Salines and then walk?

Many thanks

Giorgio

There is a car park on the right before you get to the restaurant, ive never tried in August but all other months Ive managed no issue if i go in the morning.

yeah, the secret here is really 'morning'. if you arrive any later than 12 noon it's virtually impossible to park your car there, especially in peak season.

small parking lot and when its full the refuse any car to enter so unless you go very early like before 11 you wont park there

I don't think there's any public parking close to the restaurant, which leaves the major car-parks to the north @ El Chiringuito or the larger ones to the west at Ses Salines. As alluded to, in summer they get filled up pretty quickly, and from either there's still a long walk involved; personally I'd forget the car and either hire a scooter/bike but the bus (11) is just as convenient and zero worries about parking.

If I had a car and the route 11 wasn't handy, I would try to drive to Can Pet Tixedo (think it was a former petrol station) and park there if there was room, and either walk (a good 30-45 mins) or get the bus to Salinas from there and then walk the rest (10-15 mins). Don't think there are any time restrictions in their car-park; but would top-up with snacks and drinks from the shop!

Not sure if the owner of Can Tixedo will agree with that suggestion as having lots of cars parked there all day long will deter others drivers from stopping and use their shop for the very reason of not finding a place to park even for a few minutes.

True, not sure how much room there is round the back and whether that's theirs! But there doesn't seem to be any restriction, I'll have a look next time I pass!

Thanks!!

Technically, if you're buying something from the shop you are a client anyway so does that give you parking for the day??!!

Although there's money to be made there, could s/he charge the cars 5e per day or free parking for a spend of 20e in the shop, but leaving space up front for casual callers? Suppose it depends on how much room there is and whether they could clear more land.

The gov will come immediately If they establish a parking Business, I bet.

We have been to that beach and the el chiringuito restaurant many times in the past 7-8 years in all the seasons - high , low, middle. We would usually arrive around 1 pm , and if there was no space, a nice bunch of parking attendants would take our keys and park themselves - yes it is kinda valet. I am not sure about the official status of those attendants- my guess it is none, nor is there any set amount of a service fee. We usually give 5 euros or so without getting a receipt (not that we were asking for it ). I befriended with a couple of them who remembered me and treated me with the priority.

So unless anything changed in 2024, I am sure you will be able to park there one way or another, if,you don’t mind spending a few euros and entrusting the car to the attendants.

Yeah , if there is space left. Sometimes they close the street , directly behind the crossing to salinas. They have a sign : Road closed , parking area full.

It doesn’t always happen. And when we encountered the barrier , we simply said that we have a booking for El Chiringito. Never had been turned away.

That maybe works. Or a booking for the other restaurant. If there is space left. Sometimes its overcrowded.
