Es Cana

Been to Es Cana many times we love it, may be old fashioned but we always take some travellers cheques with us and have never had any problem changing up in the shop underneath the EsCana apartments on the beach with no commission and various other places in Es Cana but Lloyds bank are telling me they don't issue sterling travellers cheques for Spain anymore as you can't exchange them? Is this correct as we are holidaying in Es Cana in Sept this year and we need to know before we buy any. Its only been a couple of years since we have been so things must have changed a lot in that time if this is true.

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is common world-wide. And very few places in Europe, not just Spain, will change or cash Traveller's Cheques for the simple reason that ATMs are everywhere and offer a more competitive exchange rate.and the rate in uk is higher than es cana.looks like either good old cash.use shops la sirena or art....but take a card visa card with as much on it as possible just in case of emergency.plus there as been a lot of fake cheques

i think what timmit is trying to say is there old hat now.means in most cases having to show your passport.which is not safe to do.
