Empty trains

Did anyone travelling home on the tube last night see how empty they were 8O
I purposely left work late as to avoid the rush hour, but I needn't have! The Northern line was literally empty the whole way, put it this way, the seats in the carriage were never full, even going through the busy stops i.e Leic Square.

People must be really worried about a third attack :(

Apart from the tragic loss of lives :( it's infuriating to see that the terrorists are getting just what they wanted ...

...... damaging our infrastructure and all the other knock on effects.

down 450'000 on average :?

Im still usin em though, got no choice, cant be arsed with the bus, its murder down moorgate and through bank

It's the weekend passenger numbers down most, about 40% i think, and down about 15% in the week :(

Bec I noticed exactly the same thing, I had to get the Central Line from Bond Street about 6.30 and I've never had so much room on a Central Line train at that time of day.

The horrible thing was we got stuck in a tunnel for 15 mins, I was sitting in front carriage (Tom has told me to always sit at front or back of tube cos it's safer :? ) and everyone in the carriage could hear the driver talking on his radio and he announced 'We're going to be held in this tunnel for a while cos there's something going on at Holland Park'. Everyone was panicing and looking round and I admit I'm not good on tubes at the moment and was getting really panicy. But the saddest thing was that there was this middle aged muslim bloke on the train (obviously just returning home from work for the day) and after a while he had tears in his eyes and actually said to the carriage 'I know what you all think but don't you think it's as hard for me as it is for all of you'.

And I think that is the most horrible and saddest thing (obviously as well as the loss of all those lives) that has come from this, that so many innocent Muslims are having to deal with that on top of everything else

Did anyone watch dispatches last night about Suicide Bombers, it was really interesting to see the history of this "Martyrdom".

The most bizarre part of the programme was when the presenter visited this massive (and I mean massive) cemetery in Iran, built to house the shrines of these guys.....

He was interviewing the mother of a 14yr old bomber (apparently the first) and she was reminiscing about the day her son came in from school saying he wanted to be a Martyr, and how it was the proudest day of her life, she then went on to say how she pleaded with him to finish school first, take his exams before he went on to become a Martyr.... Why would he need to get his exams first before basically blowing himself up?? 8O 8O seemed a tad futile to me.... :? :? :?

I've definitely noticed that people who don't live in London but have come to visit will avoid public transport at all costs, whereas most Londoners are just having to go along with it cos they've got no choice (eg for work etc) but it is a really horrible atmosphere and you can tell everyone is scared and on edge all the time

thats really sad that babs, I feel sorry for the guy in question, he is very right, extremism sees no colour.

And on your second point, I had a bit of a row with the missus the other night, as she made me promise to get the bus from angel to lon bridge, instead of the tube...which I tried for a couple of days but it just aint practical, so I switched back, and got caught out when she rang me and my phone was outta service ( damn crafty women), anyway, the upshot being, what choice do i/we have??? :(

I'll still take the tube next time I visit, no hesitation. Even if there is an attack, the odds are in your favor. You can't live in fear... keep on keepin' on, I say.

We were supposed to go to Berlin in november with Pep's family but it's too cold for us and last sunday we were discussing other destinations. We suggested London, IMO it's the city to come back, and Pep's parents agreed but my silly sister-in-law started panicing and saying it's impossible to do London avoiding public transports

Similar thing happened to me yesterday. Middle aged woman sitting in front of me, then an asian guy with a ruck sack sat next to her. I could see her twitching and feeling nervous. I wondered how long it would take for her to move. Next stop she gets off, acts like she's going to the exit and then gets on the next carriage.

Dont think the asian bloke noticed, but can you imagine what he mustve felt if he did??
:(

These suicide bombers think theyre doing Islam good??? Theyre making life hell for all the decent muslims in this country.

That's what I was like, going on the most impractical routes taking overground trains and buses instead of the tube but you just can't and you have to go back to your normal routine but I tell you when you get to your final destination and get out the underground you just feel such relief that you've actually got there in one piece which is stupid :?

I know, I really really feel for them, they've got the same fears as the rest of us and then they're having to deal with all the suspicions of other people.

It said that since July 7 racial attacks have increased 600% in this country
