Elrow @ Ushuaia and Amnesia 2023 - Reviews & Reports

😂 I’d better make use of this brand new spanking thread then.

The original plan was to go to Exhale at DC10. But having been on Monday and also heard Amelie Lens music direction this year, we called it off and went for an unexpected visit to Elrow @ushuaia instead.

Its goodness knows how many years since last going to Elrow. Last time was when it was a stand alone back room party at Privilege, lured in by people dressed in purple outfits.

The decor was extraordinary. For a one off, I can't believe the effort made or cost that must have been associated with it. Bravo to all involved.

The crowd was primarily Spanish and Italian, very few British voices. But the place was rammed and the atmosphere was friendly and cosmopolitan.

Nice to see Ushuaïa serving pints for €16 rather than bottles. I sound like I'm taking the piss but I'm not! It's a step forward.

As for the music, we only really took any notice of the forever happy and smiling (🧐) Paco Osuna. Plodding tech house all the way, breakdowns and plodding drops. The people loved it. I will never get my head around why this sound is popular and have given up trying. However, the last 25 minutes was very camp with tech house remakes from Vanilla Ice and House of Pain and a couple of Spanish vocal tracks. Not for us but they got the biggest reactions. Is this what Paco usually plays? We were a bit surprised.

Overall, pleased we went for the experience. Music not for us but appreciated the production effort and friendliness of the crowd, if not the extortionate cost. Back to reality after 4 trips to Ibiza in 12 months.

Great review mate. I personally think Elrow works best at Ushuaia Vs Amnesia Terrace, which somehow seems smaller with all the décor.

No. I think Elrow is like a fun night off for some of these DJs - and they all seem to love playing for them. They can forget about a serious set and just have some fun.

I've seen Paco at Elrow Barcelona and thought the same. Very generic and kinda boring but apparently massively popular with the Spanish.
He's programmed at Elrow Town Holland next week and I doubt he will adjust to the dutch crowd so that will be interesting to see.

What's amelie lens music direction this year? Thought it was the same, I am not a fan I find her quite annoying even if she seems to be a nice person

She used to play quite fluid bangin techno. Now it’s techno with horrible high pitch synth breakdowns and drops every single record. Ear bleeding music to my lugs. Like a techno version of Like Mike & Dimitri Vegas
