MEDIEVAL FAIR
The eleventh edition of the Medieval Fair will be held this weekend,
from the 7th until 9th of May.
One innovation for this year is the fact that the inauguration will take place
in the Reina Sofia Park instead of the Portal de ses Taules, as previously,
ensuring more spectators will be able to see the spectacular opening.
On Friday the 7th, Akasha, the group comprising of ten members,
will be performing dance and acrobatics in the Park.
The organizers have arranged for a kindergarten to be set up in the Es Polvorí area,
where monitors will look after children under the age of four, free of charge,
so that their parents are free to shop, dine, or just wander around;
it will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.,
and again from between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. in the evening.
The five-year-olds and upwards will be catered for in the Mercat Vell,
where they will be able to play games with a medieval theme.
On Saturday evening at 10:30 p.m. a musical event with fireworks is planned,
courtesy of the Companyia del Foc group.
There will be some 150 stalls in the whole of Dalt Vila,
60 of which will be manned by local artisans
and the makers of products typical to the island.
There will also be an information point next to the clock in Vara de Rey,
where passers-by may consult the timetables of the planned events
and also of the public transport.
Visitors are advised to leave their cars in the designated car parks and take the buses,
which will run every 20 minutes.
Below is the programme for the whole of the Fair.
