Eeek!

Seems to be something that happens every time I return from holiday at the moment - I go and book another one. Got back from puerto rico in april, immediately booked for ibiza

this time I've extended my travels by 4 and a half months, so now I leave in september to return mid-may now, an extra 4 and a half months... gonna have to be extremely careful with my money once I'm out there I think, but it'll be an amazing experience. Have a return to bangkok to play with, expect I'll add either china or india (3 or 4 months in one of them) to my travels, to supplement the 4 months I was already going to spend in south east asia.

EEK!

I also return just in time to go out to ibiza and work the season.. is that a really bad idea? Beginning to think that just a week or two in ibiza every year isn't enough  and a season might get a big load of it out of my system...

the only problem with going for the whole season is that any future holidays in Ibiza will never be long enough and it makes going back to normal life very, very hard indeed!

Oh and it doesn't get it out of your system

Yeah I think I probably will - as long as I remember to put some money away so I can afford to come back to london afterwards it can't do any harm.. right? 8O:?

...and where is this slush fund coming from exactly?:lol::lol:

I spent £15k during 8 months on the road. 8O

I agree with Uta, after 8 moths travelling I imagine the worst come dwon is trying to setting in a proper job, and if you finally settle in a proper job, there's no way you leave it again just for the season in Ibiza... if you know what I mean :D

Where are you going anyway, just south east asia, China India? do you plan on being backpacker-type-ish?

I need to go on a big trip.. I want to do 6 months in south america in a year... of course, every year i end up booking a trip to Ibiza, which for me, coming from way far away makes it into a big expensive trip each year and my big travel fund is depleted!

I should have the deposit from my house plus my last months work paycheck in the bank which I'll keep safe for my return.

Then I've got £3000 to last me 8 months, which should be ok as long as I stick to south east asia and india etc. Usual budget is $25/day and I've got about that as long as the pound stays strong against the dollar!

Then I've got 2 months from now onwards to be cheap and not buy any clothes (after my ibiza splurge I shouldn't need any more!) and hopefully save up another £600 or so which will help me enormously. Plus a birthday and xmas cash injection, and I'll be fine and dandy!

Not got loads of cash but it'll be uber cheap when I'm out there and I'm looking forward to slumming it

You'll be fine on that amount - you're not going to Australia or the USA...I think my budget for Thailand was approx £25 per day.

Exactly - can you imagine starting work in the UK in the summer after a whole 8 months of being away and being broke for most of the summer whilst you wait for paychecks to come in or try and find horrible deposits for your flat?

Definitely think coming back in september or october after an ibiza season is a good idea :lol::lol::lol:

Depends whether you miss your family or not...what about your poor Gran? 8O:lol:

 oh yeah. Didn't think of that :? - will have to say a proper proper goodbye to her in september, as I might not see her again 8O:cry:

otherwise generally I'm quite good at not missing my family 8O:lol:

I would put that deposit from your house and your last pay in a separate account that you can't access.. just so you really do have that money when you return.. I know that I would just spend it.. perhaps you are better with not spending all your money than me!

oh god no I'm terrible - this ibiza trip has taken a big chunk out of my budget too! 8O:lol::lol::lol:

Yay congrats! You'll have an amazing time.

I would say though, although you plan for £25 day, it never ever works out that simple. You buy things along the way, book tours, end up paying for random visa's etc etc. I would definately save up as much as you can because you'll definately need it. me and Jon probably spent about an extra £500 each than planned, and that's not including all the clothes we bought in Bangkok at the end

I had the idea of working the season in Ibiza too, I would have loved to carry on the travels with four months in Ibiza! Unfortunately Jon was being sensible boooo :spank: and said he wanted to get home and get back on track with home.work etc.
Having said that, I'd probably only do the season in Ibiza if I could work minimal amounts, I probably wouldnt enjoy it if I had to work in some sh1tty bar every night, it could actually ruin Ibiza for me.
So think about that one carefully, if you've got enough money to get you through, definately do it, but if you go to Ibiza skint, be prepared to slave away just earning enough to make ends meet - is that really what you wanna be doing in Ibiza?! :?8O

Let me know if you want any advice on India / SE Asia :D

Becki, thats sooo true about doing a season in ibiza... it would mean I'd have to WORK.. I don't want to work in ibiza.. i just want fun !
