Drinking in public

Hi guys

First time back in Ibiza since 2014 this year and I keep readings articles about drinking in public (even water?!) being illegal now.

I used to love having a few beers on the beach; is this now a no go or are the articles just scaremongering?

Surely not being able to drink water is a joke article? Would be illegal...
As for alcohol, walking round streets with a tinny in hand then wouldnt complain if you got a pull but few beers on the beach i wouldnt worry. Never seen anyone get a pull in my experience.

Thanks mate.

There was plenty of articles all around the same date as this one:

But nothing really recent so I wasn’t sure.

yeah I think on the beach you should be fine. main issue was san an in the evenings, both in the centre and as well on the rocks around the sunset strip. as much as I understand people want to do that, if you see the amount of litter left afterwards, you get some understanding as to why people try to ban it.

Never had any problems with drinking alcohol in public.
Wondering through the old town with a can of Estrella was not an issue.
The same walking from the hotel to the old town.
There was a shop by my hotel selling Mojitos to take away !!!!
The same with SA strip by Cafe Del Mar. Half of the gathered people drank alcohol during sunset (some in excess).
The same on a beach. But all in moderation. If you are going to organize a small party on a beach with an excess of alcohol, loud music etc. you may get pulled by the Spanish police (but never seen anyone been thou).
