As previously mentioned, Dorado Live Shows is back at Santos for its fifth season. These are the six dates:

· 27th August - Amaia+Pere Navarro
· 10th September - Miss Cafeina+Billy Flamingos
· 17th September - El Kanka+Amalian Folk

DORADO LIVE SHOWS KEEPS ON ROCKING

At Concept Hotel Group we don't want you to miss out on live music this summer. That's why we've done our best to make sure this doesn't happen by keeping our Dorado Live Shows line-up for 2020 intact. We want to continue with our cultural output and do everything to maintain such an important pillar, not only as a part of our philosophy but for the island in general. In difficult times we must be more united than ever and value that which enriches us as a collective.

To be able to carry out this task we have had to implement strict security measures; we have reorganised the beach club's spaces as the audience must remain seated and enjoy the concert in a more intimate way than in previous editions.

Due to the huge demand for Amaia's concert on the 27th August, we have looked for an alternative venue so that everyone can see this wonderful artist. Her concert will be held in collaboration with our friends at Ibiza Rocks, something we are sure will make a lot of people happy, given the circumstances. The rest of the concerts will be held like always at Santos Hotel in Playa d'en Bossa.

In other news, our Rock Nights party will not take place at Pikes Hotel this season, however, we have prepared a special After Show on the day of Amaia's concert where Colin Peters and the resident DJs will be on the decks.

Last night saw the return of Dorado Live Shows, now on its fifth season. In spite of this year's unprecedented challenges, they stood firm and (after some date adjustments) kept the same line-up they originally announced, to continue bringing to Santos' intimate stage some of the biggest indie rock bands in Spain to play in acoustic. Even though I've been at other concerts since the beginning of the new normality, live music by the sea is always extra special so I was well excited to be back and bump into so many familiar (masked) faces.



First of all, very important in times likes these, special mention to their big effort to make sure everybody is comfortable and has a good time in the safest possible environment. They stopped selling tickets individually, having to book a bed for four instead. People was getting seated on arrival and, thanks to the table service, only had to leave their space to go to the toilet. Very impressed about how smoothly it ran. As expected, the limited capacity due to social distancing (around 120 people) meant the event was sold out, which is expected to happen in the next ones too.



For the first event of the season, support came from Slim & Whylan instead of local heroes Uncle Sal as originally planned. The Barcelona duo is part of the Rock Nights family and puts on impromptu sets at Pikes every now and then. Alecs Slim and Genís Whylan played a long list of covers (including surprises like "Radio" by Rancid... yes!) and one of their own songs, "Pecador", getting us all pumped and in a great mood.

After a speech by promoter Diego Calvo, it was time for Los Zigarros' first concert in seven months. The band from Valencia has released three albums so far (Los Zigarros in 2013, A todo que sí in 2016 and Apaga la radio in 2019) and had the honour of opening for The Rolling Stones three years ago. They've played a few times on the island (Sant Pepe Rock in 2015, Sueños De Libertad in 2017 and Rock In Riu in 2019) and also in Formentera.

The quartet, formed by Adrián, Nacho and brothers Álvaro and Ovidi, played some of their most famous songs and a few covers, including "De nada sirve hacerse mayor" by Los Perros Del Boogie (the brothers' previous band, which opened for AC/DC ten years ago) and, to my delightment, "You wreck me" by Tom Petty from that masterpiece called Wildflowers. The show finished with everybody standing and shaking their asses to the rhythm of "Hablar, hablar, hablar...", "Dispárame" and "Dentro de la ley". Perfect, just perfect.

There might be no Rock Nights at Pikes this summer but, for those eager for more, the fun continued inside in the bar area until late with resident dj Colin Peters and friends as the stunning orange moon was rising on the horizon...
