Do (legal) taxi drivers ever get stopped for speeding?

They drive like absolute mad men and seem to not care about overtaking police cars whilst doing 100+! Had a cab home from the airport the other week and the guy was absolutely crazy, flew past a police car and nearly rear ended several cars on the ojurney from airport to Santa Eulalia! Since then I have watched the white cabs whilst out running and the majority seem to drive like loons...

On another taxi related story, driver yesterday said the moving of the rank in Santa Eulalia had killed his livelihood.
 
When I went to ibiza last year we were staying in the bay..I went to the toilet and think we were at peppers or some bar equivalent to that name. I left my two mates chatting to the PR and next thing i know I return back and they said we're getting a lift of the PR's mate. i thought fair enough. Little did i know they put me in a car with a girl who had no driving licence and was doing 'ilegal taxi' work. f*** me i've never seen a shitty volvo move so fast. Shit in my pants is not the word. Never again..but sounds like from this its no different if you get a normal taxi haha. I bartered with quite a few taxi drivers last year..it worked as well. One of them turned off his meter and just agreed a price
 
Pre children we used illegal taxi's as white cabs were simply impossible to find. The illegal taxi drivers are off the dial as you say...which is bizarre as you would think they would drive with a bit of care to avoid being stopped!
 
Do the illegal taxi drivers ever get busted and what kinda penalty do they typically get? I would have thought it would be quite hard to prove.

I got a legal taxi to the Aeropuerto from Figueretas couple of weeks back. He misheard me and started driving me to the Puerto mistakenly, I let him know as soon as I realised what had happened, then he absolutely tanked it along the motorway to the airport where I was picking up a hire car, muttering expletives under his breath and weaving in and out of other cars.
 
They are lunatics. I've feared for my life a few times. I can't see how moving the rank 1 street down has killed him though. Its not like its that hard to find the new rank?!
