Deserted Mansion/Goverment Building

Hey

On my recent travels to Ibiza me and my friend came across an old deserted building that looks like it once was a mansion or goverment building. It is i Ibiza town, just before you get to the Cathdral and you pass it on the road up there. Me and my mate accidently came into the back of it, via a vast amount of steps, and ended having to climb over the locked gates to get back out again and onto the road that take you to the cathedral. It looked like recently there was also a fire there, and lots of graffitti was around it and rubbish were maybe homeless people have lived. Just wondering if anyone knows what or where I am talking about and what it used to be or house.

I think this could be it but am not at all sure on that, although it does look very similar:

Thanks

this fire was in the papers a few moth ago ... some people (junkies/homeless/?...)
broke in and lived there for a while ...

Thanks for that McRakin and icebaer69, thats the one.

I have to admit it's not exactly the hardest thing to break into. We just wandered accidently into it via the backsteps, which we thought was just another way up to the top of the Cathedral, would have thought it would have been more fenced off considering what it has/is going to be used for.

they also found a very smelly body there with signs of violence a few weeks ago and there was another fire last week.

Victim Named

The dead body found by police in the old military building has been confirmed as that of a Romanian vagrant. The information arrived in Ibiza after the administration had sent photos to Interpol to try and confirm the identity of the victim.
The body of the vagrant was discovered by police on 15th July this year, after the newspaper, El Mundo, received an anonymous phone call from a man saying there was a bad smell emanating from the military building, which has been abandoned for several years and belongs to the Consell Insular. The police were, in turn, immediately contacted by the paper, and discovered the body lying on a bed of newspapers and covered by a curtain. The man had been shot through the eye.

The police investigation led them to interview several other vagrants in the area but their inquiry has so far remained fruitless. They believe the man who initially contacted el Mundo could hold the key to unlocking the mystery, but have so far had no luck in identifying him.

Police Confirmation

The chief of police finally confirmed on Thursday that the man found dead
in the disused military building in Ibiza Town was the victim of a murder.

The body was found in August of this year after an anonymous phone call
to a newspaper on the island.
Police arrived at the building and found the man under a bed of newspapers.
The Romanian vagrant had been shot in the face once,
although his body was in an advanced state of decomposition.
No murder weapon was found at the scene.

The building had been abandoned for several years,
and was a popular retreat for the homeless.

Police confirmed they had no leads in the murder investigation,
and were not hopeful of finding the killer.

Uni. Building

Work on the disused military building close to the Old Town is to begin by the end
of the year, according to sources at the Island Council.

The building, which is now council owned, will be turned into the main building
for the Balearic University (UIB) on the island, as well as an adult education centre.

The project is to be put out to tender across Europe by May, with the initial cost set
to hit €8.5 million, all of which will be paid by the Island Council over a three-year period.

The work will take around 28 months, and should finish at roughly the same time
as the new Parador nearby.
