Depths of depression

Back a week now and feel terrible - can't forget the good times or even the bad!
Bad first, my own fault in continuing to drink too much red wine so had four days of murderous gout - for those of you who don't know, if you have ever badly stubbed your toe, that's what it's like every time I put my foot on the ground but what the hell, just grit your teeth and have another G&T.
Good times were many but especially was our last night
On Saturday night the hotel head barman was getting quite emotional when saying good bye ( his day off Sunday ) and became quite insistent that he wanted to see us Sunday night. I explained we had already booked Es Caliu but he said all the Cala Nova managers were going out to a restaurant for a meal and we should join them. Again I said we were going out but we would try to pop in for a goodbye drink on the way back to the hotel. So we arrived at gone 11.00pm to find about 20 of them still eating so we hid around the corner to let them finish their meal. About 11.20, we decided to check on them again just as one of them came out of the door and saw us - he said they had all been talking about us(which is worrying) and to come in and join them so we were welcomed by one and all, chairs were drawn up for us and drinks appeared as if by magic. After several drinks - to which we were not allowed to contribute, the hotel maintenance man produced a guitar and showed his prowess in playing and singing flamenco then his wife joined in with her castinets and then two of the women stood up and started true flamenco dancing with two of the hotel managers joining in with the songs. The poor bar owner finally "bribed" them to "finish soon" with a full bottle of Hierbas and another of Ballantines and so it broke up at about 2.00am in the morning with another manager offering to give us a lift. As we started out, I said we were not heading towards the hotel and he said oh no, we are all going out for a drink!!! We arrived at this little place just outside Es Cana where there was more singing and dancing and again we were not allowed to contribute to the cost because it was Santa Anna day and two of the party were called Anna so they bought some rounds and then a local guy was so pleased with the "entertainment" that he bought a round for everyone - oooh er, we finally got back to the Cala Nova at 4.30am in the morning (after being told that it had never been known for hotel guests ever being invited to one of these sessions which made us feel very special) and were up at 6.30am and then got delayed at the airport for 45 minutes so now totally knackered.
One hell of a night that we will never forget - sorry to ramble on but it really was a fantastic night.
If we never return, God Bless Ibiza
