So, if you didn't already know, Ibiza's newest (well most recently renovoated anyway) club - Bomba - has been delayed with its opening as works continues to go on. We're looking at an end of June date for opening, and so all of the events planned in to take place there have either been put back a few weeks, or moved to alternative venues for the short term.*

I was at the 15th June night and it wasn't Defected as I know it. Too hard, no branding...just 'felt' wrong...then Sankey's completely failed - lights and air con in whole club went for the whole night and sound in Basement went for about an hour. It took Sankey's two hours to work out that it was getting extremely dangerous for the clubbers that decided to stay, before they reluctantly started giving out water. By then the whole night was a disaster, and we went home. FAIL and only bad night I had out of 7 nights straight clubbing.

Was there also shaping up to be a good night. Maxxis Soundsystem was a bit ropey, but Derick Carter was going for it. The power problem was a joke, we gave it nearly 2 hours before leaving. Shame as Eats Everything was someone I was really looking forward to seeing live, especially in a club like Sankeys.

I think issue maybe was that Eats Everything & Maxxi Soundsystem aren't really what I would refer to as usually having the "Defected sound". Combine that with sticking them in an environment they are very familiar with - in Sankeys - and it probably made they play more to their usual style of music. As opposed to playing a different kind of set which I feel they may have done in a different venue, under - as you mention - a more branded night in it's own right. Just a thought.

Agreed on that point re Eats Everything, but I was expecting good things from Maxxi, who's productions I really enjoy and fit in quite nicely with the Defected sound.

defected too hard? Whilst the rest sounds like a shambles I like the sound of it being "too hard". I'm really surprised by that (& the obviously dangerous set-up!). Shame it was so badly executed!

Circo Loco is available to those that want this 'too hard' sound. Whist the house Defected put out these days (usually) isn't my favourite, it's still enjoyable, and the crowd I was with were really looking forward to some vocals, variety and vibes :)...this was just no fun.

Yes I get what you mean :-) In 2004 I went to defected at the then el divino. Junior jack & kid creme were playing absolutely banging vocal house. That was the perfect combination for me! uplifting, cool vocals but fast & driving. everyone was so happy! It was one of my best nights! Sadly, for me, defected then became too slow. Circo loco not really my cuppa. Glad you had a good time on the rest of the nights. They probably would've played what you were looking for at Pacha I guess.

Thanks. Yeah, went to Pacha for Insane (Voorn & Faniculli B2B), which was amazing, and a massive surprise - so intense and driving but so much fun, with a couple of classics just thrown in perfectly (and I'm guessing would fit that perfect combination of yours?)...then we went back there for Solomun+1(HOSH), which again was ridiculous. Solomun doesn't play the same style as he did last year at his DIYnamic nights at Sankeys (the best night by far for me), but it's still an amazing sound.

:spank:   Dude I was waiting for something from you on this. I would've tagged you in my reply if I could've! Lol! My thoughts exactly!

Liv, it's time for a revolution in Ibiza to stop all this down-tempo, chin-stroking type of music taking over completely!

House, Trance & Techno all seem to have slowed down in BPMs in the last few years which sucks in my opinion. I prefer to feel a bit more energy musically & where people dance harder, I find the atmosphere is always better & you get a better feeling!

I'm looking forward to hearing your experiences from your Ibiza trips Liv, so I know where to go/avoid in September!

I was there that night too, such a shame about the sound and lights! apparently it's happened before?
