Death of a dj

Aleix Vergés, aka Sideral, die last Friday at 33.

He was one of the main responsible of the electronic scene in Barcelona as a first resident at Nitsa Club. Where he played with dj’s like Lauren Garnier, Carl Cox or Jeff Mills. He also played every year at Sonar and most years at FIB and usually at Monegros.
He was the best sample of the catalan eclecticism, he used to be criticised cos he’s technical skills weren’t the best but his musical choice was always risky and successful.

I met him in several occasions cos we had a friend in common, he was shy and seemed weak, and it seemed that all the popularity he coped during the Nitsa days was too much for him. During the last year he did some non-shows due health problems. Last time I saw him playing was at La Paloma a couple of months ago. As per normal, the place was a bomb

The whole Spanish scene is in shock

How did he die, Silvia, if that's not too ghoulish a question?

Supposedly by a heart attack, so you can imagine the rumours saying it was because drug abuse (I read somewhere that he died becasue sniffing heroine :? :? )

He was the tecnopop master and a local hero

I've read about Juanjo Mur too, but I hadn't had the chance to see him.
Sideral was supposed to play next week in Barcelona and the whole city is full of adverts with his name :?
That's tragic.

What are the chances of some ruthless promoter pulling a Weekend At Bernie's stunt so he doesn't have to pay any refunds?

Sil,
I asked the Catalan connection and he does know this bloke...not personally though.
Apparently he was good too.
