Second time for me at Ibiza and this year along with my girlfriend...so here we go:
Tuesday 15th July
We arrived exhausted at the island after a 10-hour wait for our flight from Milan around 8.30 am.
We had to wait until 10.00 am until we get our keys for the apartment in Figueretas which totally killed us.However,we managed to leave our bags at Bar 1yDos and went for a little walk in Ibiza town.
At 3.00 pm after having a quick meal we were back and ready for Bora Bora!I was there again in 2006 but this time the place is totally different...First of all we were charged for two sunbeds 24 euros without an umbrella...T-O-T-A-L rip off! Bouncers were indeed everywhere, but didn't seem to stop people from doing ''things''.Music was turned up at 4.30 pm but only a few were in mood for dancing at that time and to tell you the truth i found the music a bit too hard for a beach bar.Anyway,we left at 19.00 for the apartment as we had booked a table through email (thanks Barbie!) at KM5.At 21.30 we were ready but there was a queue at the taxi rank so we decided to take an illegal taxi.Problem was that the driver didn't speak English and didn't understand without us knowing of course where is the restaurant exactly so he dropped us off at San Jose village... I was reaaaally pissed off at that point but it was our choice too.We finally found another cab there which took us to the restaurant.Gladly the food and the restaurant as a whole impressed us to say the least...we paid 50 euros each for one salad, two main dishes and a wine!
However what reaaaaaally impressed us was the fact that the restaurant had a driver to take clients back to Ibiza so when we finished the schedule was to go to Carl Cox at 1am...no police as has been previously mentioned here outside Space and no queue!Entry 40 euros without a drink with prebought ticket !we get in and the terrace...empty as i've never seen it...the discoteca was pleasantly full but not packed and John Digweed was on...omg what a set...definitely one of the bests i have ever heard from Diggers...
but at 3am,by the time he finished we decided to call it off as we were dead. After all,it was our first day!!!
Wednesday 16th July
We woke up late around 2am had a small breakfast at 1yDos and off again to Bora Bora.
this time the weather was cloudy so after sitting only 5 minutes at the beach we decided to leave and do a shopping walk at Ibiza town.In the evening we went to Amnesia as Espuma and Made In Italy were on and my gf really wanted to see the foam.
At 1am we were already inside Amnesia and while the terrace was empty the main room was already full so we decided to stay at the main room.the music was nice until 2.30 am when we decided to see what happens in the terrace. There Mar-T was finishing his set and Scarlette Ettiene was ready to begin hers.
To tell you the truth the decoration at Made In Italy was one of the best i saw in Ibiza this year but the show was really poor...having 3 naked women stripteasing in front of the dj booth wasn't exactly nice killed the atmosphere and made Scarlette mad who obviously wasn't informed.what i must say is that the naked women part is Made in Italy's choice and not Amnesia's.At 4am the terrace wasn't full so we decided to head to the main room which was packed.Nice selection of tunes from Mar-T and Les Schmitz and when the foam came it was amazing! It's something you don't see it often!
We left when the club had closed for good with another couple who owned a car and guess what...every single car which was coming out of the parking lot of Amnesia was stopped.we were too but after showing the license they let us go.and i didn't see anyone getting searched or doing an alcohol test.but we were there only for 2-3 minutes so i don't have a clear view of what was really happening.
Thursday 17th July
No beach today for us as we decided to see the castle
and again do a small shopping walk and have a coffee at the port!We had dinner at Marco's in Figueretas
where the delay of our main dish was more than remarkable...almost 2 hours for a seafood paella:x!After eating our paella we headed to Privilege for Monza.
Now i had never been to Privilege before but this club is a dump.It needs a refurbishment asap. The cocoloco room opened at 3am and at 3.15 was full but as soon as Marco Carola came on at the main room everybody came there and it was nicely filled but not packed.a lot of workers and a very nice party atmosphere combined with a pretty good set from Marco.two things that put us off that night were that Privilege was a dump as i previously mentioned and too many people on too many drugs...
Friday 18th July
We woke up at 1am and headed to Salinas.i had never been to that beach before and when i saw it...it was love at first sight!!! unbelievable crystal clear water, white sand, full of chilled nice people...what more can you ask for???really really amazing, made me fall in love with Ibiza all over again!!!we sat in front of Guarana until 7pm when we headed back to the apartment. At 12.30am we were ready for our dinner at Pacha restaurant.Fusion cuisine, again one salad, two main dishes and a wine around 55 euros per person.perfect!!!at 2.30 we grabbed our last glass of wine and headed to the club where Pure Pacha and the Swedish House Mafia were on.
Sarah Main was warming up the packed Pacha with electro house and imo it was a bit too hard and quick for a warm up set.Everybody were waiting the Mafia...
the crowd was mostly English and it looked as if it was still Pete Tong the headliner...many many British chavs too who had the nerve to hit on my gf in front of me!really amusing!!!my thoughts for the Swedish were two:first, their technique and the cooperation between them are amazing.second, too many classics remixed which is not our cup of tea so at 5am after sitting at the terrace for a while
we went back to the apartment as we were supposed to go to Formentera next morning.
Saturday 19th July
I woke up first at 9am but after looking out of the window that the sky was full of clouds i quickly fell to bed again...and when i woke at 2pm what a strange thing...the sun was shining...the same phenomenon happened again for a couple of days and i found it very weird...so no Formentera that day!but...after seeing the sun shining...we decided to go to San Antonio to the sea there and then catch the sunset! We went to that small beach just after Kanya which we saw that was full but to our unpleasant surprise the water was so dark and dirty that we decided to leave.I have to say at that point that we saw many many British boys and girls hanging around already drunk or with a big bottle of beer on their hand and it was only 17.00-18.00pm...i won't say anything else about this i think you got the picture... so off to Cafe Del Mar
where we catched a great sunset, maybe the best of our lives so far!!!
Back to our apartment we had a small McDonalds dinner and went to Amnesia for the People From Ibiza party. We went in at 2.30am and again no queue outside of the club...last time i was there in 2006 the queue had more than 300 people waiting to get in.The terrace was not so full but the main room was so we stayed there and catched Mar-T and Les Schmitz playing...although i've never been to Matinee the dj sets at PFI were very good and the people seemed very up for it,very nice party atmosphere...
we left at 5.30am and the main room was still full!
Sunday 20th July
Although i reaaaally wanted to see Danny Howells at Space we decided with the missus that we were too tired to go out again and that this would be a wise choice if we were to catch the boat to Formentera on Monday. So off to Salinas...
WHAT A NICE BEACH!!!!i'll keep saying that forever, probably the best beach i've ever been to!!! at night we went for a couple of drinks at the port
which was good fun and at 3am we were already at our beds!
Monday 21st July
A day i was waiting for....Cocoon!!!it was the only thing that was on my mind the whole day!Needless to say that we missed AGAIN the boat to Formentera due to our sleep needs. So we just hanged around at Figueretas waiting for the time to come to go to Amnesia. At around 2am we were there
...no queue at the tickets and huge queue at the guestlist...around 150 people were waiting to get in.we were already waiting around 30 minutes and they seemed to stop people entering from guest list because of the club being packed inside.it was time to make some phone call and in 10 minutes we were inside!Tobi Neumann was already playing at the packed terrace and his set was very good.Inside, the main room was as busy but Guy Gerber was playing much more harder which we didn't like.At around 3.30am the club was packed to the rafters even at the VIP was very difficult to find some space to dance in both rooms. But we found our small corner in the terrace and we waited for Ricardo Villalobos and...omg what a blinding set he played...by far the best set i heard in Ibiza this year and one of the main reasons Cocoon is so so so full...the crowd was amazing, the sound at the terrace now is as good as the main room...everything perfect.Cocoon is by far the best party of the island at the moment.
At 6am our powers abandoned us and we decided to leave.the club was still reeeeeaaaaally packed and the music was planned to stop at 6.50am.don't know if that finally happened though.
Tuesday 22nd July
Sadly this was our last day and it was supposed to be the most quiet due to early morning departure the next day...how wrong was i we had to pack everything so we didn't go to the beach and in the evening we had dinner in a great Italian restaurant in Talamanca with some friends. After eating, drinking 2 bottles of wine and around half a bottle of Hierbas we headed to Amnesia were Armada and Contact were on.Contact wasn't full but the decoration of this party is really good,Armada on the other side had no decorations as usual but was full.We stayed for a bit at the terrace to hear Kurd Maverick but the music was a bit commercial so we went to the main room to check Armin. So Armin was rocking the main room, really nice music, nice flow and i don't even like trance
At some point we thought that Armin had its monitors too loud,so loud we couldn't stand there so we headed back to the terrace. At the terrace i recognized our lovely moderator Nostrum and there we had a nice little chat (it was really nice meeting you Stivi, but i only remember half of the things we said as Hierbas and Vodka had found their way to my mouth). As we were waiting for Tocadisco,i discovered something completely new for me...Laughing Gas!!!!!!!!
Amazing, unbelievable, there are no words to describe this!!!!you can even see its full effects on my girlfriend in the next picture!!!
we probably had more than 20 balloons on that night!!!
At 4am Tocadisco came on and hammered the place with his tunes!!!in fact we were already hammered
and we had to be at the airport at 6am which didn't happen and led to our friend driving us a maniac to get to the airport in order not to miss our flight!!!!
What a great night to end our holidays...!!!
So that was my review...i'm so sad i came back,i fell like i was in paradise...
Two more things:
first, about the amount of people on the island, they are definitely much less than the same period of 2006 when i was there.
second, there is certainly much more police presence but as long as you're not causing too much noise they won't bother.
That's all from me...
