D.I.Y vs Package

So what do you think is the best way to go? A package holiday to ibiza or a D.I.Y where you buy your own flights, accomodation and transfer.

What is also usually cheaper?

i go diy with begin on my own.no extra charges either. (fiesta hotel group)book on any airline ok.all the big ones just do flights.you can go when it suits you.stop as long as you wish ( useing two airlines sometimes).get a taxi to resort.use this site ot others to find hotels ect that do on line service;s.

put it this way i got a flight for £64.00 two weeks.booked it 5 days before i went?..total cost inc hotel h/b.£460.00 but that was may/june...i will be doing the same in oct.2007...

i think that using 'cheaper' isn't the be all and end all of a holiday. surely getting what you want, where you want, when you want is the most important? going diy gives you greater flexibility - long weekends, midweek breaks, and my favourite 3 or 4 centre holidays - you may or not get it cheaper, it depends when you book, where you can fly from and so on.

I've been doing both for years - I usually find that early or late season it is much cheaper to book flights(sometimes it's even cheaper to use different airlines out and return) and accommodation independently but high season(July/August) it's cheaper to book a package if you are particular where you want to stay.
If you don't mind about hotel or even resort then late deals are the usually the best bet at any time of year - BUT some years this doesn't apply so you pays your money and takes .....................................

ive always done DIY.This year we are doing Figueretes and escana 9 nights.£200 total.

the last 2 yrs i've done diy going to ibiza. this yr got 10 days in july for £180 thats return flights and accommadation. so not done 2 bad this year. only 3 weeks left to go till im there.

mine you in some cases it can be better to get a deal in high season..but i will be on a free weeks stay in oct.i get a free week and just pay for one.fiesta hotel points.bogof really.

thing is with going with another company(flight that is) that does not put anyone in my hotel...i have no one to wave me off.
i stay in a portland/tui hotel...but fly with either mytravel or firstchoice/thomascook...

really its all in getting a cheapo flight.but having to wait till the last moment to get it cheap...mine was £10.00 less oneday before i went....itys a gamble

i book tons of flights and hotels for friends and family, i use skyscanner to find cheapest flights, the earlier the better, then check out cheap hotel deals through google search, and also of course spotlight ... but may and october , you can normally get some good package deals xxx

Well thanks for all the help so far!

Today we have booked flight's on the 1st September and returning on the 8th costing £76 each which works out to £152 for the both of us, so we have decided to D.I.Y. I think that is quite a good deal!
