Cycling questions

Planning on renting a bike when im over in april, was wanting to cycle from San Antonio to a few places, festival club etc, how safe is cycling on the backroads of the island in the daytime ?

would anyone recommend a good place to rent from? have saw a few with decent prices but just incase anyone has some local knowledge!

if anyone has any other good spots to cycle to feel free suggest them!

There are at least two other threads on cycling. The roads with not much traffic are IMO safe.

I might have a free day next Thursday in San Antonio.. What are the chances i'll be able to pick up a road bike and helmet for rental on the day? I would only want the bike for a few hours in the afternoon, long enough to cycle 50-60km. If it's too much effort I won't bother as It would only be decided whenever i'm free, so would need somewhere local really.
