Cream - It almost closed before I got there

Just got back from Ibiza and thought I would warn everybody who will be going in future years about the problems we encountered getting to Amnesia for the Creams closing party. We were based in San An and bought our tickets for the club from Itaca with their offer of a free bus to the club. We asked the location of the bus and where advised to pick it up outside the new Hed Kandi bar by the Egg. We had a few drinks in Itaca and Ibiza Rocks bar and decided to walk down to the Hed Kandi bar around 12.30. We notice the large queue already forming at the back of the Ibiza Rocks bar and in the back of my head I thought it likely that this was the queue for our bus but we continued towards the Egg. Unfortunately I was right, there was no bus outside Hed Kandi. We decided to try for a taxi so walked into San An. On arrival the taxi queue was massive. We did a "U" turn and headed back to the rear of Ibiza Rocks. On arrival at around 1.15 the bus queue was much longer. The next few hour where horrible. People pushing in, people getting throw out of the queue. people running into the bushes to go the loo. If we hadn't already paid 80 Euro's for our tickets we would have forgot the club. The buses (or bus!) seemed to be arriving every 30 or 40 mins but only about 30 people got on each one when it seemed about 250 wanted to get to the club. As time went by the pushing got worse. Three girls by us decided they had enough a left the queue (120 Euros down the drain). Eventually we got on a bus and got to the club at around 3.30 am. I was kicking myself for not joining the original queue or for not waiting in the taxi queue which probably would have been much quicker. I assume the clubs lay these buses on so why don't they put a few more buses on. I know this was a closing party but in the peak of the season it must always be the same. So be warned get to the bus stop early if you want to get to the club early.

It was a similar story over in PDB, lots of people wanting to go but a serious lack of available transport to get there!

Taxi's were non existent unless you wanted an illegal, luckily I managed to get on the Amnesia coach from PDB as I saw it coming up the road and managed to get 1st in line, upon arrival at Amnesia there were loads of taxi's just sat there waiting, so I said to a few of the drivers that loads of people were waiting for taxi's in PDB and none were there

Whether they took any notice to this or not I don't know!

It was rammed at Cream this year compared to last year, but then I felt the resorts were alot busier this year than last for the closing parties too :)

The Disco Bus, which departs from the bus terminal, only a stones throw from the egg monument, would have been another option. One every half hour from San An to Ibiza town, stopping at all the clubs along the way.

Yeah I wonder how busy the Disco bus queue would have been? The Club was rammed. I really wanted to stay in the Terrace to see Calvin Harris but I'd had two hours of being knocked sensless, so opted for the Main Room and PVD. But I really enjoyed my time in the club.

All the bars, clubs and beaches seem busy during our stay. We have been a number of times in September but everywhere seemed busier than past years.

I recall the advice given on one of the boards, was that no self-respecting clubber turns up at a club before 2am, trouble is if you want to take advantage of the free transport, you'll have to break the rule...

Great advice, unfortunately it's nothing new. I learnt this lesson a few years back, going to Amnesia, that was the last time I queued for a free bus. Fortunately a girl I was with got a friend to give us a lift, after a 40 mins wait. Nice that the clubs/Island puts on free transport though.

The disco bus is less than 2euro one way. Not much difference between free and 2 euro in my opinion, especially when you add in all the hassle that Kingfisher experienced with so called "free" club buses. Sounded like a wild west cattle drive!

From midnight until 6am it runs every half hour and with a sizeable portion of the crowd using free buses one would deduce that there may be less of a scramble for the disco bus.

You live and learn. Won't be doing the free bus next year and will make sure I'm on my way to the club before 1.00 am in future.

Hey!

This is a great heads up for people heading over... and it sounds like it was bloody terrible!

I just wanted to add, during our stay (30th August to 7th Sept) we took the disco buses a couple of times, and they were really good.

I dont know if it was because it was that inbetweeny time between August and Closings, but we got the bus to Amnesia no problem (for cocoon), that was the free bus, we caught it at 2:15a.m, then we came back with the disco bus, I think it was 3 euros each, so cheap... I couldnt believe I had never used it in Ibiza before!

We also got the bus from ZP to SNP, which was really good, prompt service, but that was as soon as ZP finished. As for the bus going back to PDB, we waited A LOOOOONG time... if we hadnt been on such a budget we would have just jumped in a cab.

Think those are the only buses we took, but it really was a god send when we were on our tightest budget ever...

I will add... There is noway I would use them in the circumstances Kingfisher used them... but dont out rule them completely... ;)

I've always used the free buses and never really had a problem although this year there did seem to be some confusion with some of the reps as to where the amnesia bus picked up from in San an it had moved to over the road from kandi bar have always used the disco buses to get home €3 to get home is great taxi is fine if there is enough of you to fill it.

We went Thursday, got to the bus queue by ibiza Rocks about 1am and it was huge, 1 bus every half hour we reckoned at least another hour and a half before we´d get on one so walked back the other way and flagged a taxi, although that took a while because loads of people were doing the same.

Got into Cream, went through the ´through bit´ to go the loo and it was just too much, everyone trying to get through both ways, I had to grab onto the boards at the side as we were getting shoved down the slope, it was just chaos.

Went back into the first room with PVD and had enough room to dance so was ok, wasn´t attempting to go back through whoever was on!

Pacha Saturday was brilliant, got a fantastic spot upstairs, was like our own little vip bit.

Space last night was just not enjoyable as we couldn´t move, there was no room to dance in Fatboy Slim, stayed in there over an hour then we all went upstairs for some air and none of us wanted to go back in. Obviously the bigger nights will be more people so in future I think I´d go for the not so big nights.

Was he playing in the new terrace?
Did you get to see Voorn or Zabiela?

Shame about Cream, we went to the closing last year and thought there was loads of room, maybe this year is busier generally.

As much I hate using illegal taxis sometimes if you don't use them you wont get anywhere on time.

I have no idea, it's the first time I've been, the room on the right as you go in. Just Fatbot Slim while we were in there.

Pacha and DC10 were the best nights.
