hi,
what a great forum! great information everybody.
i am visiting the island at the end of july. staying in san an bay. i have managed to get away without the children so i basically want to use the time to explore ibiza.

i would like to ask approximate directions to cafe del mar please.
i am familiar with the bus station (the old one) and is the new one in the same place?

i have been told that cafe del mar is round the corner from there, and is it within walking distance? :)

the new bus station is near the football ground. from the old bus stop continue to the end of the port near the tiburon and yate bars and on the right in the car park you'll see the start of the new promenade which leads you right past all the sunset bars in that area.

it should be done that bit in july from the old bus drop off.you can walk round but its not finished really.but i thing its brill now.

the new station could do with a few signs.like town/ .i knew where to go but 40 others were walking around not knowing how to get into town.so it was follow me.

thank you! i do so want to go to cafe del mar, haven't been before and i'm not a clubber so just want to chill and watch the sun go down. also i take it the bus station has a regular service into eivissa, so does it also return later at nite coz i'm only there for 5 days:cry:

great information on this forum by the way!

there are buses every 15 or 30 minutes to ibiza and there's an all night 'disco bus' from ibiza to san an with a connection to the bay

cheers! loads info-i think i'm organised now. actually my hotel this year is not too far way from the egg, i will be in osiris, have stayed in hawaii last year, and its my favourite bit not noisy at all.
funny thing is-when you tell people you're going to ibiza they think you are a clubber, and many people don't realise that the island has something for everybody. i have even taken my young kids to san antonio and they love it. personally i am a very quiet person but i love to go to the bars and stuff and then chill on the beach watching all along the front at itaca and bar m and such.but this year i plan to visit cafe del mar.

was just out on a new delivery job i have taken to help fund my spending money! coz this year i didn't get my fix of watching the sun go down coz i was on the other end of the island. and i am waiting patiently til end of july:)

many thanks for your info, invaluable!
xx

That's right Ibiza isn't just about clubbing. I like a few clubby nights but I'm past it now to do it EVERY night. Ibiza is such a beautiful island -it's a shame it has had so much bad press. Documentaries only ever show that one street in San An - my other half and I call it Arse Head Land

looking for somewhere to visit at nites. i definitely intend getting the bus one day and going to eivissa and staying til late and walking way to the top, we shall enjoy the evening there i am sure.

i don't go to the discos at all.i'm 36 and my taste in music is enigma and the other band of jens gad ,achillea. i like reggae type stuff also. i have been to bora bora which i did like, but would like to try something more chilled, that's why i think cafe del mar would be nice......other than that i don't know anywhere else.and preferably nearer the san an end. any recommendations welcome..:)

Yes I'm a bit old for clubbing every night too and like nothing more than a jug of sangria, chilled music and a great sunset. If you like the chill out experiences, get yourself down to Kumharas too. It's down at Cala de Bou, just the other end of the bay. Water taxi from San An to the Milords hotels will drop you just round the corner from it. Really worth it, very chilled and less commercial than the strip. Another good place, if you've got transport, is Cala de Hort. Great place to watch the sun set next to Es Vedra.

looks like we should start a club for the old farts(passed it but still love the odd night out)..i think when your in your teens till say 30 your fine.after that its moaning age....i must be getting old when i see prs standing outside bars looking no more than 16 if not younger.

don;t get me wrong i go to san an once in my stays.just to remind me off the good old days..i just like to chill now...44 and still going strong

I know, trying to persuade anyone to head there with me this year was a complete nightmare, they've all seen "Arse Head Land" and think that's all there is to the Island.

Flying out in about 8 hrs ;-)
