Cocoon opening 2006 - no afterparty pix this way

Right now the Cocoon afterparty is taking place.

(Photos removed at behest of Cocoon. Maps too are discouraged. If you want to know what they're like, you'll have to go.)

It's the latest in a truly epic series of parties that started with the consistently awesome Sónar in Barcelona, continued at Circo Loco @ Dc10 yesterday (photos here), followed by Cocoon's opening party which started at 11pm for the first time ever. The music at Amnesia stopped at 7am.

In the main room at André Galluzzi laid down an insistently funky techno groove before Sven Väth came on and tranced it up, but not in a bad way. On the terrace Ricardo Villalobos pulled out his best atonal clicky house numbers, even veering into electro territory when the mood took him. Rhythmically it was also challenging - the beats were so syncopated they almost sounded out of time yet Ric always manages to pull the different drum patterns together to form a satisfying climax.

Trainspotters and party animals are agreed - Cocoon are once again on form.

Terraza - Tobi Neumann, Mar-T

I too, have always wnated to find out about the Cocoon after parties.. considering I make sure I get 2 Cocoon parties on my trip to Ibiza!... what do you do, just walk around asking randoms if there is an after party??:confused:

yes. you have to ask around, if someone knows where the after hour parties take place. it´s kind of a good kept secret...:lol: ;)

i was at the cocoon closing after parties in 2004 and 2005. it was amazing!!!!!! beautiful locations and some wicked moments!!!! :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

I had an excellent time at both parties, it was an after party to end all after parties!!!!!!!

Sven was off his face - as usual!!

Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Locodice, Mauro Picotto, Tiefschwarz and Eric Morillo were some of the fellow partygoers!!!
 
according to a friend who works for amnesia, like last year, the after-parties will happen every now and then (not every week) in different locations. nothing new then..... apart from the fact that the entry to racó des pins was 10€ (even for this guy who works for amnesia ! ! ), except for those that arrived at the end who entered for free. as you might remember, in the past their after-parties were free entry.....

I guess I'm assuming such a small percentage of people know about them you'd have to waste half your night walking around cocoon asking about 300 ppl in hopes that MAYBE one of them MIGHT know.. i want to dance, not ask strangers questions!

nonono, its not such a big problem to finde out where the afterparty takes place ...
when amnesia closes in the morning you will here the name of the place
going around when you are leaving amnesia/standing outside at the parking lot. if not, then you can start asking some freaky looking people ...

you shouldn´t ask before during the night ... too many different names/places are mentioned :twisted:

Bummed I missed this afterparty!

But I must say the Cocoon opening was an absolute blast. Great tunes, good atmosphere, good fun all around, and I saw Erick Morillo upstairs in VIP! One of the best parties I've been to so far on this trip!
 
mackie, any news about more afterhours? please keep me updated - i will be in ibiza from this saturday for 3 weeks - see you soon amigo! 8)
